Yo,
Man, have any of you guys had problems with your speedometers reading correctly? I have. When riding with some of my buddies we are chatting through headsets, and come to find out, my speedometer is 5-8mph off compared to theirs.
I did a search for digital speedo's, and the reliability of them, made a few calls, ask some questions and was directed to this item, "GPT Universal Digital Speedometer". I found it at athttp://www.teamnkg.net/speedo.html.
Everyone I talked to said it was more reliable than the needle speedo's and it would be correct within 1/2 to 1 mph, better than my stock. I'm going to keep my stock gauges however, and just put this up under my windshield. The only thing i wish it had was my average and highest speed.
Here is the info on the item:
The GPT Universal Speedometer not only gives your speed but also can log engine hours and show your distance covered. The system comprises of an on-board display and a sensor that can be fitted to a camshaft, gear or wheel. Ideal for karts, bikes or cars.
Features of the Universal Digital Speedometer include:~
Engine hours
Speed display (up to 350 kph)
Distance covered per session
Total distance covered
Simple set up
Sensor features:~
Rotary position gear tooth sensor
Short circuit protection
On chip 10 bit A/D converter
Self adjusting magnetic range
High speed operation
Zero speed detection
If you guys have heard of this, and have advice on the best place to mount: camshaft, gear or wheel, please let me know.
Thanks,
Spin
