Let's go back 200 years - 1811 - and if you could have dinner and spend the day with 5 people (you can choose ancestors - grandparents or further back - but not immediate family, let's assume they can be there, too, if they want) who would it be? Give the reasons why if you want to...

Here are mine:

Abigail Adams - If she were alive today she'd be running the place. Devoted wife and mother, political savvy and never the shrinking violet. Not many people know, but in her letters to her husband, John Adams 2nd US president, she helped him with suggestions for the US Constitution.

Frederick Douglass - I'm reading My Bondage, My Freedom and it's simply amazing. He had a truly unique intelligence considering the circumstances into which he was born.

Abraham Lincoln - He was basically self educated and became so articulate and a very shrewd politician.

Eleanor Roosavelt - She used her social and political position in a positive way. She put herself out there to find out what the country needed and helped her husband gather information when he couldn't.

Albert Einstein - He was so smart it's scary. And from all accounts a very personable guy. I think he'd be fun at a BBQ.

Yeah, we've all done this a million times, but I've been reading some American histories it's been on my mind....
