Disassembly Questions

Help... I never removed the tank or fairing on my Busa or my oldest sons Busa, (both blue 06's). About a month ago he laid his down on a wet road and we are just getting around to working on it. The top of the tank was crunched on a curb and is leaking so I have it up on the prop rod. We are possibly going to replace the whole body kit, saw some for sale here and on ebay. Then we will probably sell off the good parts to try to cover some of the cost.

Questions:
1, How does the fuel line disconnect from the fuel rail, (Throttle Bodies)? (looks like a quick disconnect)...
2, Any advise on where to get some of the plastic rivets that popped off on impact?
3, The fairing stay and gas tank bracket,(hinge) are bent are they very bendable or should we just look for replacments?

Sorry to hear about the mishap...

Yep, fuel line is a quick-disconnect. Just squeeze the clips and pull apart. Mine took some force to pull apart...

I got some replacement push pins from my stealer. But send vman1300 a PM, his company, MR Cycles is a board sponsor and they specialize in OEM parts. He'll shoot ya a good deal.

Depending on where/how the fairing stay is bent, it can be bent back. Just take your time - some of the 'tack welds' can be broken if not careful. I would suspect that you could bend the tank bracket back... Or, you may get lucky and get a good one with a tank purchase...

plenty of sources for the pushin plastic rivets...
quick disconnet for the fuel lines...
I would get a new bracket for your tank. Yes, you could bend it but it'll be tough to et the alignment just right.
The front fairing bracket is aluminium. If it got bent it'll be hard to bend it back without any breaks. You should be able to pick one of these up from a busa board at a fair price.
