Do you own any gold?

When I was with the UN in Cyprus, we would go over to the Turkish side and gold was dirt cheap......at least half the price of gold on the Greek side...

I went there in 2011 and the gold on the Turkish side was just as expensive as anywhere else....

What quality of gold came from those sources? 24k or? Ever any coarse gold like nuggets or powder?

One of the best places in the carribean to buy was curaçao. My dad used to fly there to purchase jewelry for resale. Those were the good old days when kids were walking around with necklaces and bracelets with their names on it. lol!

Does this count?

My geologist and report writing friend for mining companies says the best way to accumulate gold is to get the tools that can help you find it. Metal detectors and other devises can pay for themselves quickly at the beach after a big holiday weekend. You have a window of time to recover lost gold jewelry otherwise it sinks below the depth you can detect it.

I asked him what is the average depth of bedrock is at the beach. He said it varies greatly... I happen to think that beaches that have seen beach goers for over a 100 years like we have in Southern California have gold jewelry sitting at depth or on bedrock right now that will never be recovered.

Not gold but as a kid I was walking across a plowed field and found an 1899 Canadian nickel that was in perfect shape.....

I still have it too....quite a few years ago my wife had it sent away to be graded and it did pretty well.....then I told the grader how I found it and he was stunned that it was in such good condition....
