haha, I know what all of you pervs were thinking....but I mean...

Being new to motorcycles, and getting a busa as my first bike, do yall think size has a factor in how well you control this beast?

I am 6'5" 285 bech around 400, and squat around 650, powerclean 360....

I am just wondering if once I get this bike (My first one) if my size will allow me to control this bike better then lets say someone who is new and is 225lbs...

Just wondering...hmmmm...

Well, since the 'Busa is approximately 550 lbs the weight of it probably will not intimidate you (at least compared to a person who isn't as strong). But, if you don't train your right hand to behave, it will bite you in a big way no matter how strong you are.

Take a MSF course. Yeah, the bikes are small but the training will help you ride safer.

Most people say that you should start on a smaller bike. I believe if you practice safety everyday you will be okay.

Good luck on your future purchase.

Yeah I AM DEFINATLY TAKING THOSE COURSES! My course of action is:

Take temps test and pass
Take beginers Saftly course
Take license test and pass
Take Experienced course
Then go out and ride

How many 6'5" 285lb motoGP riders are around?

It will help you not drop it at a stop, but other than that no it won't help. Practice and becoming comfortable with the bike as well as gaining riding knowledge (both mechanics of riding and how to read/predict traffic) will make the difference.

Good for you for going down the proper path. Also to gain a better understanding of the mechanics of riding pick up a copy of something like Keith Code's, Twist of the Wrist II.

At least if you run out of gas Bigboy..

You could carry it home...

as far as you holding it up at lights and walking her in the yard, you're not going to have any problems, but what they said with that right wrist, if your not ready she won't care, you twist it hard, she is going somewhere with or without you!

Dude, the busa will treat you like a 50lb scrub. Being able to push weight certainly helps when the bike is static. But a object in motion tends to stay in motion..... Watch the left and right hand....

Well you can bench more that my mom but she has you beat in the squat and deadlift. Shes 155lbs and 50 years old holds all kind of records been to the Goodwill games in denmark and Russia . But don't worry she stopped lifting a couple years ago

. Anyway no matter how big you are that doesn't mean you should jump on a busa. Just my 2 cents.

Strength and size has nothing to do with riding the Beast.
Knowing YOUR limitations is what keeps you alive.

ok from one BIG rider to another (6'7" 240lbs) NO size dont help riding at all- you can back it up quicker/easier, pick it up if it falls (took 2 cops n my 2 friends when I dumped it last year), and that's about it. I rode back in 99, then sold bike n just borrowd from friends for 5 years till i got the dough to get my busa. I ride with a buddy (5'8" 160lbs) on a ZX-12R and he has had his bike for 3 years, n a 900 Honda before that...this guy manhandles his bike way more than I do mine, and I can snap his neck faster than the busa snaps a cheap chain....
You have the right idea tho with your gameplan-take the saftey course, try to get comfy on a friends' big bike (900cc or up @ least) to get used to moving the wieght around...if you practice on 600s n go right to the busa, u may be in for a rude awakening.
good luck big dawg, and whenever you pick up the Busa get them pics in here ASAP!

Will do guys...thanks for the tips..I am sure I will be fine with the busa and just take it easy for awile...and defintly take those MSF course I have also read the entire "Proficient Motorcycling" twice now and am going to go buy the next one in David Hough series. I have learned ALOT from just reading that book! Hell I think after taking the MSF course and reading both of these books I will be ahead of most...dont ya think?

BigBoy GSX, you have the right idea. take it slow and learn all you can. With proper inputs this is a wonderful motorcycle. That said, I ride the dragon on a regular basis and it helps being someone of size. I'm 6'2" and 260. I can throw it into the curves easier than someone 160 pounds could. I know I'd hurt myself on a Gxsr if I went into corners like I do the Busa. Now, am I going to beat a Gxsr through the turn, Nah. But I have just as much fun.

Ride safe and wear your gear. Be gentle on that throttle. I've been riding for 34 years and have the scars to show for it. It can be a short learning curve, but it can be pretty expensive too.

There is a 128lbs girl that lives by me that rides a 02 busa with a big bore and NOS and she can out ride most of the people around here. Its not you size its you skills

i want to meet your mom....lol....but in all seriousness...its all about the developed 6th sence that only comes from years and lots of practice...and that little voice in the back of your head that screams "whoaaaaaa"...usually is right
