either way its mine ALL mine. took it around the block as soon as we took it off the trailer... went around solo once.... she went around solo once-even comented on how comfortable it is.. and went around the block the last time 2up.. all i can say is AWSOME!!! cant wait to get some touring type items to make it even better for her back there! im open to suggestions..

now on to the newbie questions:
where can i download(hoping on free) the M.O.M.(owners manual) or buy it?

is it fuel injected or carb'd?
i couldnt really tell.. it does have a KN air filter and those sexy pipes.
BUT it idols kinda rough. didnt catch @ what rpm's.. it starts kinda rough when COLD... chock(enricher plug) had to be PEGGED all the way for it to stay running cold(normal/not normal)

i jetted the GS and the S40 for El Paso elevation comming from North Carolina.
am i going to need to rejet this thing?

WTF is up with the friction zone? or should i say lack of friction zone.
what do the numbers on the clucth/brake levers do? which way does what?
back to the friction zone... its almost non-existant.. found taking off and shifting to second a bit of a challenge... i'm sure i will get used to it.. but is it correct?

the bike also has some kind of brake turn signal modual..no turn signals.. it just uses the 2blubs in the brack light... if i was to try to locate this thing.. where would i start looking?
also heres how it acts
left turn normal
right turn normal
brakes pulse on and off continuosly. never goes steady on

imagine the confusion that follows when the brakes r applied with a turn signal on... yup flashing frenzy... no clue which way i was going standing next to the bike...:poke: dam thing may not pass inspection for texas that way.

if im unable to adjust it.. trailer box converter here i come.. i'll do a write up for everyone to enjoy.. i should of done one when i did the wifes bike. BUT i didnt.. im sure i have my color pencil diagram some place

ok heres my very last squid question... what octane gas is required?

its got dam near new tires.. so i wont ask that
i wont ask about oil becuase rotella is all i plan on using
why> becuase i used it on my 2001 yamaha raptor 660 for 3 yrs. my wifes S-40 since new.. and my GS500 for almost 8kmiles NO issues... buy it at walmart... but i have a weakness for factory oil filters... so i always use those.

what else what else what else......idk... im sure things will come up..

The manuals are here. I'll go get the link. Fuel injected. Always use the fast idle when cranking a cold Gen I. Ad just the idle to aroung 1200 from memory, but the Busa has a factory lick. After market levers. The numbers change the settings of the levers. Either closer to the bar are further away. Adjust them to your likes. Big throw from first to second gear. You will need to kick it. False neutral can be found between 5th and 6th too. Check in the trunk, but I think the integrated tail light electronics may be a part of the tail light assembly. Stock or basically stock Busa 87.

You will probably get alot of short answers on all your questions. Take what they say and do a search with the key words and you will find many threads dedicated to what you are looking for! Congrats on the new purchase. Treat her with the respect she deserves and ride safe.

I'll tackle these two for you...

She is fuel injected, so there's no jetting to worry about. Are the Yoshi pipes bolt-ons or a full system? If they're a full system, you likely have a Power Commander or similar item under the rear seat, or the ECU has been flashed with a new fueling map for your setup. Busas do clunk around a bit with cold starts, but it's nothing to worry about. Some people consider the Busa to be a slightly rough idler, but I just think they growl when you make them sit still. Check the idling RPM's once she's up to operating temp and get back to us if you think there may be a problem. I'm sure a Gen I owner will jump in with the correct idle speed. :poke:
That knob is just a fast idle adjuster, not a choke. Good for cold starts.

ok heres my very last squid question... what octane gas is required?

87 is recommended for the Gen I Busa. That's 1999 - 2007 bikes.

One other thing to look at is a cooling fan upgrade. Gen I bikes tend to get hot from time to time, so adding a second fan and using Muzzys aluminum blades may be the way to go if you find yourself sitting in traffic on hot days.

Anyway, :welcome: to the family and the addiction. Enjoy your stay.

Shift it like you mean it.
Full fast idle on start-up for about 1 minute should do it.
no rejetting
87 octane
might have a "back off" or something of the sort installed for the brake light? I have one but it blinks then goes solid.

call the previous owner and ask him where the "brake light modulator" is at... It is an aftermarket device added to get the attention of the egghead behind you when stopping.. I think they work myself... if the T/S is working correctly, think about leaving it on there..

:welcome: ABOARD THE .ORG TRAIN! Nice looking scoot you have there. Enjoy :beerchug:

Take it easy on the coffee before you post
