When trying to change out one of my front rotors the very last freaking bolt head stripped out! ??? Has anyone else had this problem and if so how the crap do you get the bolt out without screwing up the wheel??
Ive used these as well, Never on a Rotor but Im sure it would work, Ive been told before that when replacing rotors I would probably need new bolts to replace the old ones with.
You could carefully drill off enough material of the head to get the rotor off and the use vice grips to remove the threaded section of the bolt. Sounds like a whatever works situation. The easy out tools are worth a shot, but sometimes they can snap apart.
some kind of easy out of screw extractor should work i almost did the same thing and then went and bought a quality set of hex sockets and it came right out hope you get it out
If you know any tig welders. Bring the wheel to them. Have them weld a nut or a short small bolt onto the head of the rotor bolt. Then just put a wrench on the bolt or nut it it will come off easily! The heat alone will make taking it off a jiffy.
As a preventive, I've always heard to warm the bolts up with a soldering iron/gun before trying to take them out. Supposed to help break the Loc-Tite loose.
Thanks everyone! The power extractor that Bokey recommended worked great! I heated it up as some of you said with a heat gun then I used the extractor. I had my local shop order me the replacement bolt so I should be good to go.
