The reason I ask is that I want to buy the Haynes service manual and it only covers up to 2004. I just want to be sure I will be able to use the manual for my 2005.

You should have no problems with the haynes manual.
If any differences, it will only be some wiring for the headlight to turn off while starting.

03-06 are pretty much the same with the minor changes noted above. 99-01 ran a different fuel pump and had some cam chain tensioner,starter issues. Can chain problems were resolved in 02' and starter issues in 03+ on. Biggest change was a 32 bit ecu vs. a 16 bit in 03'. Another was the Ti/Nitride coated (gold) forks and gold calipers. Ohterwise same kicka$$ bike since 99'.
