So I just installed my tank pad, and noticed it is a bit off center, any ideas on how to remove it and straighten it, or am I out of luck?

you're S.O.L. i've try and failed misserbly. never found a good way to redo it yet. It's pretty much a one shot deal.

try a hair dryer or heat gun, just be carefull as it is the "GAS" tank! but i would assume if you get it hot enough, you could get it up and re-postion it:2cents:

Next time try finding the exact spot that you want it in, and then put masking tape around it to "mark off" where you are going to place it before you actually stick it on.

I would take a hair dryer, heat it up lightly, pull it off and buy a new one.

Been there done that.... Sucks, next time try using a little windex and then move the adhesive backed protector any place you like. Give it an hour or so and it won't move!

Hey Bring it to the House bro I have a heat gun we can try heating it up a little bit and see if it will adjust to you liking.

Same thing happened to me. I had just bought the bike that day. The dealer was good enough to take it back and give me a new one.

Doesn't hurt to ask.

No matter what you do it's not going to move and then stick again. Take it off and buy a new one. I ran a string from the center of my gas cap to the exact center of the front of the seat and then carefully applied it. Perfect!!!!

i put on the gas cap cover and front tank pad....and unless you examine them you'd never tell they were anyway crooked but it bothers the hell out of me :banghead:

im right there with you bro. i thought i had it perfect and i guess i did with my head tilted a little

Things like that are hard to eyeball and get straight. Masking tape or a sharpie (water washable) marker and a cloth measuring tape, string line it, have to lay it out some way to guarentee that it'll be straight.
I know what you mean though, not quite 1/8" off and everyone says "looks straight to me", but it's not, and it'll drive me nuts, because I can see it. The curse of being a steel fabricator.

I did the exact same thing, so I yanked the first one, and I have to buy a new one. You will never get them to stick a second time.

didn't do it on the tank pad but i did put the hayabusa sticker a lil off center on the back of my car no one else really noticed but it drove me nuts
