Since Suzuki didn't make it easy to switch back and forth, people either ride with the hump most of the time, ride witht the rear seat most of the time. If they switch back and forth, chances are that they did the mod that allows them to leave the grab bar on all the time.

What is your prefference?

I think tht I ahve put the back seat on only once. I do not like riding 2up. Most likely this is why i am always looking for female riders. Now i ahve so many things under the humb I do not really want to move them. Plus I just like the way it looks biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Hey Thinker,

I did the mod only a couple of months after getting my bike. The hump stayed in the closet for the longest until I saw SirUK's bike. Made me want to put the hump on, but I didn't want to take the grab rail off. So, I took some measurements and got me some WD40 and a serrated knife. The knife along with a couple of shots of WD40 cut through the plastic like butter. Took me all of 10-15mins from start to finish. I like the hump too. I've added a few things to it that I had done at our local print shop. Also keeps your a$$ on the seat when doing those wheelies.

I modified my hump so I don't have to unbolt the passenger bar. Hump fits over it nicely, quick change with the seat.

I love the look of the hump, but I also really like riding with a passenger. I did the mod and am very happy with the results.

If I still lived in Chicago, I would have a real delima. With no helmet law, you could be flagged down at any time by a nice looking honey wanting a ride. Thus, my friend Elton never uses his hump. In Portland, I would have to carry a second helmet all the time, which would be a pain in the butt. So I just put the seat on when I am planning to have a passenger.

BTW, after all these years, I can't believe that Suzuki still hasn't changed this design. It would be very easy to make the hump work with the grab rail in place.

Till then, I guess we keep a-cuttin.

i switch the grab bar, and seat when it's needed.. I like the hump on there 99.9% of the time.. cutting the hump and leaving the rail just doesn't do it for me.. messes up the smooth lines the hump creates

I love doin the hump. Wouldn't have it any other way. If I run into a "berry" that wanted to ride, she is sh*t out of luck. I'm not into the taxi business.

Interesting so far. We need a much larger sampling but here is my prediction:

50% always uses hump
35% switches back and forth
15% always uses seat

We will see how it shakes out. I am in a poll kinda mood.

Okay, I have been wanting to cut my hump for my grabber. hahhaha

Anything in particular I should know before I cut the hump??

I actually aquired a hump in the correct color already modified. So I have two humps. (two sets of seats to)

Just go slow. I just put the hump on as far as it would go, and observed where it appeared to be making contact. Then I used a marker to draw a conservative line representing where I needed to cut. Then I cut along these lines and it wasn't enough. I just kept making it a little larger till it fit. I wanted the closest fit possible. I used a dremmel.

If I can do this, anyone can. It turned out very clean and very nice.

Hey Thinker,

Oddly enough, I saw a brand new Millenium Falcon at a bike shop in Houston, TX and the tail was modified so that the hump could go on with the grab rail. Wonder if anyone else had seen this.?

Mugga,

Not even for the finest "berry" of them all? Halle Berry that is. Shiiiit, I would trade my left...uh...well...uh...you get the picture...for a rider like Halle. Don't know if my seat could take it though.

MuggaX, what if you ran into a "Berry" that had her own Busa?? Could she ride next to you, or in front of you?rock.gif hmmmmm, inquiring minds want to know.

I ride with the hump 99% of the time. Don't like ridin 2up. There isn't a whole lot of guys out there who are willin' to ride Beeeaaaachhhh...... either that or they're just skurd!! ha ha ha at any rate, it's the hump for me!!! i did the mod and cut out the inside of the hump and store stuff in there. and the hump keeps the booty in place when drag racin' too....

just my .02

Taxi business? That is not what it is about at all.

Man when my crew used to roll up to the races at Raod America in WI (no helmet law either), we used to hit the town Elkhart Lake and the women would almost line up to get a ride...or go with us. It was awesome.

In Chicago, all the bikers would gather at a few spots. Soon all the groupies would show up. If you met one you liked, you just might want to take her as the group cruised downtown or to the lakefront. Lets just say it was a great "ice breaker".
