Doing Wheelie can get you killed!!!!!

Good point. I went down to the industrial area last week with a bunch of guys to watch them do wheelies. I spend most of my energy trying NOT to wheelie. Some of the black marks left by the front tires were a foot and a half long. These guys had good helmets, leather jackets and boots, but I've seen how poorly jeans fare against asphalt.

Must be the summer time fever, one of the young local San Jose Motorcycle rider got himself killed Sunday morning June 18 showing off doing a Wheelie,he not only killed himself but also took out two by standers who where gathered at a local illegal drag racing event held on a local back street. The guy 20 yrs old lost control of his 1996 750 Suzuki and crashed into two cars causing injuries to a girl and a guy.For the other young riders out their or inexperience riders don't wheelie where crowds are gathered close to the road, never know when your bike might go out of controll due to sticking throttle, tire failure or what every.Ride safe all.

A similiar thing happned about a year ago in my area. the guy was on a public street, parked cars on it and all. He lost control doing a wheelie and got killed when he and the bike hit one of the cars. One of the levers broke off and ended up in a by-standers arm.

I don't do them often, but when I do, it's not in a area where I can hurt others. And less chance of killing myslef.

Years ago i crashed riding a wheelie. I was on an old 87 GSXR 1100(new at the time). I was at the track competing in the half time Wheelie contest. What happened was, You had to have the tire in the air before you left the concrete pad. I rode the wheelie down the track and it was a long wheelie so the front tire stopped spinning. When the front end came down wide open in fourth gear the tire had to go from 0 to 120 which made the front tire skid while trying to get up to speed. The bike went in to a tank slapper and i lost control and crashed. Had leather coat on but the jeans didnt do much. Bike was busted up bad. Had i done this on a road with cars and people on the sides i would have killed myself or someone else. I try to do short wheelies now no long ones.
