I raced my busa yesterday, 1/8 mile, first time ever on a dragstrip, both me and the bike. Best run 6,765, 60 feet time 1,792
top speed 108 mph. I am very pleased with that result. I think it have more to give.
Race on.

For the first time on a dragstrip, I think those numbers are very respectable. But, with practice there is definitely more IT will give and more YOU will give it too! I raced a guy yesterday at the drags who races all the time, and on his Busa he ran a best of 1.81, 6.91 @ 109.76. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to beat my 95 ZX-9...lol!

Race on and race again!

My son took my Hayabusa to Lancaster Dragway (near Buffalo, NY) for the first time and turned 6.841 sec at 111.38 mph in the 8th mile.

Last time I was at strip 2 busa`s with airbox modified ,yosh pipes ,16 on front and VERY good light riders were going 6.20`s at around 120-121mph....on almost every pass. By the way these 2 particular busa`s were lowered and had front end tied down.

Well, I don't feel so bad. My 95 Zx-9 with 400 fewer cc's, stock airbox and filter, stock carbs, stock gearing, suspension mostly stock (fork tubes slid up 1 1/2" through triples...stock rear) has gone 6.52 @ 112. Give me 9 mph and I'll make mine an "0" or a "teen".

What's going on here, we race 1/4 mile around my way. 1.43 sixty foot, 9.88 at 136.5 Mph. All this in 100 degree heat with corrected altitude of 4900 ft. That's 6.29 seconds in the eight. I love my Busa!

Midwest, that's a healthy 60 footer considering Gadson's slicked and barred nitrous superbike goes 1.3's to 60 feet and 8.50's in the 1/4. You're the man!

Kevin

I finally got my Busa into the nines. 9.89@142mph Lowered and one tooth off the front sprocket. My best 60 ft. time was 1.62 I can average a 1.64 60 footer

Vegas, on the 6.52 pass it went 10.08 with the clutch slipping a bit in high gear. Trap speed was 136, but the bike a couple weeks before at Sears Point went 138.5. On a good pass in the summer it's a 9.90 bike, in awesome weather during the fall or spring, I'd like to see a 9.80 out of it.

Kevin

Midwst Busa,

How are you leaving (rpm, etc....) and what did you do to the bike to get 1.43 60 footer? I've been racing a 75" car-tire'd bike this year (outlaw street, no bars) and it's leaving REAL hard but getting about the same 60' as you. Were you running it lowered and with bars to get that? An exteneded swingarm? (Pingel has one)

Rob

Best time out of my 1246 Zx-11 is 9.66 with a 1.599 60 ft., 116.41/6.27 in the 1/8th, 143.74 in the 1/4. Bike has a 4" 0ver swingarm and I weigh 220 lbs in gear. Never have seen a bike with no bar/long swingarm do a 1.4 60 ft.

Vegas, thanks! There are many guys who go 9's on their 9R's, but not too many do it on the older, hefty versions.

Kevin

8.56 @ 162 with a 1.24 . Kaw 960 cc turbo in a stock frame with slick, bars and 6" over arm. This is a fun ride, my hips and arms were sore the next day.

4.69 152.1 eighth mile four years ago on my pro mod...yes of course it was a suzuki...and 5.08 in 1990 on believe it or not a FJ yamaha....we finally named it the gear sheller...2nd gear every other pass.

Was at strip at bike race over the weekend...busa went 6.08 in the eight mile...sorry didn`t get the speed. This bike was extended and slammed but stock engine with pipe. Outlaw street class was won with a 5.12 on a GSXR.
