Drilled holes in handlebars

I should say RE-Drilled holes in handlebars from M6 to M10x1.5. Handlebars are a great tie down location. I just had a problem with having my grips/throttle tugged at for hours at a time, so I decided to put M10 eyebolts there while in transit.

I chose M10x1.5 because of strength, the eyebolt will NOT be in the ideal load orientation (in regard to tie-down of the truck), but still underloaded (unless I put the truck in a ditch). Handlebars are aluminum and easy to drill from M6 to M10, then hand tap.

The M10 button head bolts I got from McMaster were a little shorter, so I had to create a shoulder, (with my hobby lathe), I have black end caps on order from McMaster to make this a more professional looking job.

It's different.

I'm thinking that the stress will be greater on the bars now though. When you use straps you are closer to the center of the bar. Using an eye-bolt places you all the way out which produces more leverage.

It is a nice job though.
