this topic has probably been thrown around before several times at that. basically theres wires on top, few under the tank, a few motormounts. sounds easy enough. pulled a few civic motors and trannys before but never a bike motor. i understand i need the special tool for what...2 of the engine bolts? i still have to pick up the service manual. basically i just want some feedback from people who were scared before and completed it without to many problems. any feedback is cool. also another thing, i havent heard to many things about shift forks. if i do replace mine i dont want it happening again. are there better ones? sorry for the essay.

Dropped mine out a couple of months ago. If you don't want to spend the extra $ for the "special" tool you can make it yourself with some sockets and a dremel. Just make sure you follow what the manual says so you don't end up doing something stupid and paying more for no good reason. Install is the fun part.

Well my hats off to those who do it. Just don't do it if you have reservations. i am not my bikes doctor, so i leave it to the pros. DaveO is the only one that will touch my bike round here.

i have all winter so time really isnt an issue. i dont know,my shop guy gave me a real rough estimate...maybe 350 take the motor out and put back in so thatskinda tempting.

i was asking my dealer Flat Out in indy about taking my whole frame off so i could possibly have it chromes and he said it will be 11 hours of labor equalling 700 dollars that includes taking the bike apart to the frame and putting it all back together when everything is chromed. and they will store all the parts at their shop its tempting if i got the money this winter!!!

Pulling the motor is easy but tearing into it might be a different story if you have never done it before. I would suggest pulling the motor and taking it in for the upgrades if that is what your doing.

Mounted an engine without the usual lifts. A slice of plywood sheet that was lifted from the side. Catching the bottom rear engine mount. Using nylon rachet scraps lifted the front of engine. Engine hits the front tire. The front tire turned to one side and nearly completely flat, what it took to get it past.
Had gotten ahold of a printed version of the service manual from Ebay. A reprint not an original. Helps show all the electrical connections. Wire harness routing. What comes off in what order. Although Online Service manual has same. Print up the pages. Noting beats having greasy manual pages at your finger tips
