OK, while I also like to brag about some stuff, when I screw up I also like to tell everyone...so here I am after finally finishing getting all that bdywork back on the bike after the pair removal..etc. Onramp..20 roll, hammer it in 2nd, at about 8500 ish the bike suddenly stops..instinctly I grab the clutch and just coast to a stop watching what traffic is doing. Get off the bike. Hit the starter button, nothing, no sound of fuel pump so I know something is amiss. Prepare to get out the toolkit to remove seat and prop up the tank. Glance at all switches..sure enough..somehow I hit the kill switch when WOT, no idea how, but it was off. Might have hit it on the shift (bulky gloves) and it was in that neverland of inbetween positions. Flipped switch on, pump whines, starts right back up. For some reason bikes feels a bit soft off idle today, I know I reconnected all the vacum lines tot he airbox, one under in the middle, one to a sensor in back, and a big one to the crankcase plus two electrical plugs, but still just feels a bit off. Moral of the story, check the basics.

Yup, which is one reason I wanted to share. Likely won't cause any engine damage, that is how we tune two strokes, run it wide open and hit the kill switch, lets you see the spark plug exactly how it was witht he wide open throttle jetting because just idling back down and coasting can throw it off.

nothing like an azz puckering experience to make ya feel alive.
I had same experience (and feelings of butt puckering) when my sidestand switch would cut in and out on my 89 FJ1200...
Hit a bump mid-corner, it'd cut out. I ended up just removing the switch. Prolly not want to do that with the kill switch though...

not a 2 stroke(I know you know this? )
you can float a valve and break some crap. decel in gear is okay, but pull the clutch and turn off at high rpm bad.
How can you float a valve from killing the ignition at speed, how is this any different than a rev limiter that uses spark cutout? This is news to me but I learn something new everyday.

I've seen shops tune 4 cycle bikes the same way. Run it up to the limit and then chop it. Then they pull the plugs and look for the right color and deposit.

Well,at least you checked the switches before pulling all the plastic off the bike.....
