Dumping RPMs in 6th gear

So, randomly this morning while I was on the highway doing about 90 MPH the RPMs went to zero then came straight back to where it was at before. Any ideas why this would happen? 2005 Haybusa. Edit: it did this about 4-5 times before I got to my destination.

Welcome to the site. To help you our members are likely going to need some history of your bike including the condition, maintenance, and problems.

For clarity are you saying the engine died then came back to life?

Make sure the battery cables are tight. A corroded kickstand safety switch or the condition of the stand's spring can cause this. If it is a floppin', it can kill the bike. Check the tip over sensor. Is it still mounted correctly?

Bike was still running, but the RPMs went to zero and then shot back up.

In Chemical Engineering we would say you have electrons moving from one atom to another through a compound called a conductor. The conductor went missing a couple of times.

LOL, in short you have a bad connection somewhere and those could be hard to find until the connection is completely lost. It could be in your instrument cluster, it could be in your wiring harness.

Because that is an unusual factory issue, I would start with areas where modifications have been made to the bike.

That makes a lot of sense, I'll check it out and see what I can find. All I have is a power commander so I'll check all that and see what I find. Thanks for the advice.
