Dyno impact on tires?

It wears them flat and depending on how long on the dyno you will probably have to replace them. One or two runs shouldnt hurt them........

Dynoruns used to be harmful to tires but that was the kind used for cars when you put the wheel between two apposive rollers. The tire sort of got mangled in between. The normal Dynojet type of dyno with just one roller is not harmful at all, it's like riding on the street.

I beg to differ...........my buddy scott went on the dyno, the latest one. I dont want to get into who, what brand ect but he had to replace the tire. This was about one month ago..................

VegasDude, actually, the only time a tire becomes an issue is on a load
dyno, or during extensive load testing.  In the case of one of the 'busas
we ran here, we put hours on the bike while simulating different load
settings, to fully map the Power Commander II.  We do this so that you
don't have to.

Most people don't have the capability or time to do what we do.  We try to
provide as many different setups as possible, so that as a worst case
scenario, you have to change only a few points, not all of them.

Sure, 4 or 5 hours on the dyno with an artifical load will damage a tire.
Dynojet never claimed it wouldn't.  What you have to remember is that the
vast majority of Dynojet dyno's in the field (about 1800) do NOT have the
load capability.  During an inertial run on a Dynojet dyno, the amount of
time needed to accelerate for the test is measured in seconds, not minutes
or hours - like a mapping session.

So, for the record, an inertia run on a Dynojet dyno will not damage or
destroy your tires.  Make a set of runs then feel the tire...it will not
even get as hot as it does on the street during normal riding.  Heat is
what kills the tires, not the load.
