Dzus fasteners, where do buy them?

Amazon and eBay have some but the fastener, the piece that the twist screw goes into is too wide to fit in the plastic ‘mounts’ under the hump. I’ve been to two hardware stores and they didn’t have any. Years ago I switched the OEM screws to twist offs but now I can’t seem to find any that fit. Any ideas?

Quick removal of the fairings

Well, that to. My Ducati had them all over, very convenient. Which is what I like about the hump mod. Just a twist screw to remove the shelf to easily access the storage area of the hump. I have a spare hump that I’m prepping and want to use similar fasteners but can’t seem to find any that are narrow enough to fit. Here are pics of the ones that would work if the clip or screw base was narrower.

Have you checked summit racing and jegs? Not bike shops but cars use them too.

No luck, all 25mm or 1” wide and they’re to wide to slide into place. It’s been years and I can’t recall where I acquired the ones I’m using on the OEM hump. I’ll try some hardware stores next time I go to the big city. :D Got a Denali Sound Bomb horn to replace the useless horn on my Z. If I can find the bike in all this smoke maybe I’ll install it. Gotta wear a mask outside just to keep the ashes from my lungs.

I bought Kurveygirls Dzus fasteners years back and they were the same as the ones you pictured.

cut the retaining clips ears? Middle part will hold it together

I have Pro-Bolt Dzus fasteners on my ZX-14. I had to grind two of the spring clips down to fit inside the fairings and they work perfectly. The clip gets hot so I held each with a pliers while cutting with a dremmel. That should work for your fasteners too. Check out Pro-Bolt, I think they have one kind with a different sort of clip that was made for tight spots. Aluminum is lighter too and you can get it in colors if you want. Expensive though.

This is what I was thinking. No idea how they stay in place after you take the fastener out.

It would suck if you couldn't get the fastener out of the hump. I'd try cutting the clips you have down. You know those will stay in place if they can be made to fit.
