ECU removal

Have any of you removed the ECU and can explain the process?

I know just that I have to disconnect the battery first.

The topic will be helpful for both me and other Gen3 users that will reflash their ECU at some point. :)

Thank you!

Remove front saddle. Disconnect negative post only from battery connection.

Depress locking clip and rotate bar latch downward, the ECU harness will pull away from the ECU. This works on both connections.

To install is reverse of above procedure. Make sure bar latch fully engages and locks in place on the ECU connection.

Excuse me I posted that from work, the two left connectors can be removed by depressing the finger tab in the middle which will unlock the connectors and slide them loose of the ECU. The one on the right is the one with the bar latch, and that one needs to be depressed in the middle which will allow that bar to fold downward and disconnect that connector from the ECU.

Disconnect the retention strap, and the ECU will lift right out.

Pay no attention to the square box underneath the retention strap on top of the ECU, as that is my proximity sensor for my alarm.

That's a much better post sorry about the confusion for earlier.

You are very kind and your explanations were perfect.

In just a few minutes I managed to remove the ECU without damaging something. :)

My bad, when you go to reinstall your connectors for your ECU, make sure the bar on the right connection folds all the way up which will draw onto the ECU and it clicks. Same with the two connectors to the left make sure you push them in all the way until they click. If not, they are not fully seated.
