Educate me on a 1340

41 cc's worth. Hehehe I think they say 186hp on stock 1340, not sure about 1299.

The 1300cc are 1999 to 2007 models. In 2008 Suzuki went with the 1340cc engine which had 2mm more stroke in the crankshaft. I added one of those in my 2002 model along with some other goodies:laugh: The 2mm stroker crank is good for like 5hp/5ftlb tq. If you tear up a gen1 busa and are in need of a rebuild its a good buy. Both cranks are a Suzuki OEM parts are the same price:laugh:

More like 170-175 hp vs. 150-155 for the Gen1...dynos can vary a lot...so don't believe the hype when someone says "well my bike made xxx hp to the wheel". The dyno is just a tuning tool and even the guy who does the run needs to be good to get consistent and correct #'s...

by looking at the exterior of the motor is there anyway to tell if anything has been done to it?

reason being, I met a guy earlier while doing some errands in the truck(since i cant ride for another week-week and a half), and struck up a conversation with him. He said he had rebuilt his motor to a 1340 and has loved it ever since. everything looked normal with nothing obviously sticking out to me. had dual Akrapovic cans, and other small odds and ends like frame sliders and such.

real cool down to earth guy. not cocky like most riders in this area are. never got to hear it run as i was walking inside as he was putting his gear on.

All of you guys are correct...

and I almost forgot about the added compression on the 1340's.

We have a stock bore 2005 Busa with high compression pistions and web cams I'd put against a 1340 all day longg. The 1300cc engines just need more compression and a head/cam package to wake it up, and this one still has the old 1300cc crank in it. Makes as much hp as a 1397.

yep......look for a spacer plate between the cyclinder and the engine base

what is a 1397? is that a higher up build of the busa motor?

as you guys can tell, i'm not a motor head by anymeans. i understand them, but what the numbers and all are on them once work is done is over my head.

a 1397 has a 3mm bore on the cylinder and has larger pistons. Adding this to a 1340 gives a 1441cc killer... I have one.

so a 1340 comes stock on a gen 2......do alot of gen 1 guys rebuild to a 1340? or do they go bigger? just wondering if he pulled a fast one on me:rofl:
