EK chain versus RK chain.. .difference?

I just put extensions on my Busa, 6 inches and she is due for a new chain anayway (20k miles) and i was looking at chains. Is there much of a difference between the EK and RK chains!?!

Do you guys have a preference for either? or can you suggest another?

I am planning on maybe boosing my bike, and running the drag strip a couple times. Nothing major/ professional.

Thanks for the input....

Always been told to go EK, PM Charles at street and track. He might have your answer.

As I remember RK came OEM on my 06.
I replaced it with an EK ZVX2 and it has lasted twice as long already.
The EK ZZZ is supposed to be even better than the ZVX2.
Just my experience.
I'm sticking with EK.

Sounds like an easy decision... EK it is... they are all the same price anyway.... my stock RK is pretty streched at 20k miles. 12.875" for 20 links. Service limit is 12.57 i think.
THANKS GENTS

We put EKDRZ2's on everything. Its overkill but you will never come back with a stretched chain.:beerchug: And its light and frees up HP

according to Vortex, their sprockets will last longer with the RK chain.. The EK ZZZ does not stretch like the RK and so it saws through their sprockets.. (this according to Vortex when I called them about premature failure on one of their sprockets)

I run the EK ZZZ with the Stealth SuperSprox (about 17K now and still fresh as new)

Vortex is BSing you.
You must have got a poor one from them.
They worked great with my ZVX2:

Sounds rediculous that a chain has to stretch, so as not to wear the sprockets.

I was running the ZZZ and it killed the sprocket in about 5K.. I also killed the AFAM in about the same time.. Last of the aluminum sprockets for me...

Vortex said that their sprockets are designed for a chain with 2mm of stretch in order for the links to hit the root of the tooth.. without the stretch, they ride too high and kill the sprockets (the sprockets both had "hooked" teeth) I just figured the AFAM was a POS.... So it is always possible I had 2 bad sprockets but at $80 a pop? screw it..

I just went with the tri-metal super sprox and no problems..

DO NOT USE ALUMINUM SPROCKETS:poke:

We use steel sprockets, the aluminum will fail everytime. NEVER use aluminum. Thats whay you are going thru chain and sprocket setups so often. Steel sprockets=EKDRK2 non-oring and keep it lubed. 300lbs with ALOT os NOS on a built engine... 1year hard drag racing and street riding. Both chain and sprockets look like they just came out the box. I lube once a week.:beerchug:

and JT sprockets for me!!!

Well I only have one thing to say to Vortex:

Yea I gotta go with the  myself... will never run the aluminum sprockets again.. (I was not warned about this issue by the guys selling the the crap.. go figure.. $$$ means more than happy happy)

Sprocket 1 $80 AFAM
Sprocket 2 $80 Vortex
Sprocket 3 $95 (tri-metal),

passing along the lesson to others? FREE :)

I have a brand new 530 JT42 steel hanging up. I actually have 2, but keep one on a spare cush drive setup for easy swap out. just went with a 16/45 gearing:laugh:

I'll put my EK ZVX2/PBI KITS up against ANY COMBO on the market...Strength,Lightweight,and Durability, nothing else compares..

Hey Daniel, what sprockets are you using on the rear? and does the V2 stretch a bit more perhaps?
