EK chain????????

Bought a 10" stretch kit that came with an EK chain, went to test and tune yesterday. made 4 passes and the chain stretched bad. tightened it up and on the 5th pass it snapped like a cheap zip tie! thank God (and i did) I was still in first gear. chain rap around the back sprocket and lock wheel. I slid to a stop.Thank God again I was not on the big end when it snapped. I"m getting a DRZ drag chain.
 
Dam. I thought EK was supposed to be a decent chain. Comes factory on a lot of bikes. Glad it wasn,t worse than it was.
 
They r it was prob out of adjustment or installed incorrect.
Did it 1st pass I BET MASTERLINK WAS NOT RIGHT.

I INSTALLED A BILLET TRANNY LAST YEAR IN 1/2 A DAY ITS STILL RUNNING GREAT.
Thats counting pulling motor.I dont think the chain just fell apart the fact it happened right off points to install error.
 
master link did not break. broke on the 5th pass not first. And whats your tranny got to do with a chain failure?
 
my guess is something else caused the failure. Maybe to tight? Odd that it wrapped around the rear sprocket, it's more common for them to get spit out by the front sprocket which has the power. Which EK chain did you have? What kind of master link? How was the sprocket alignment?

Either way I'm glad it wasn't serious and didn't wipe anything out. :beerchug:
 
What series EK chain is it?

It will be stamped on the the link side plates.
 
Was it a clip on master link or was it a pressed masterlink? If it was a pressed one, it can be mushroomed too much and cause it to break.

EK-mvxz I called all things chrome,they said send it back they would replace it. When I ask about my skinned up extention and sprocket they said with a high power bike I should have used a better chain! Its the one they sold me with there extension kit!:poke: I"m sending back but I"m up grading to a zzz I think thats a raw deal, what do yall think?
 
The MVXZ is only rated up to a 1000cc bike. You need a ZZZ or ZVX2

its the way some people do business.... they sell you what is best for them not for you....

just a side note too, that kit was probably cheaper than some that come with a higher grade chain, and thats why.

yea I found that out this morn. how can it be that much diff when the gsxr1000 will run with most any bike? And yes I"m going with the ZZZ. Oh and that front axle trick you told me works great! Thanks:thumbsup:
 
What was included in the 10 over kit? did it include a complete chain or just chain links to extend your existing chain?
