Why not go for a real El Camino...as in early 70's? Ungodly fast, real engines (none of that wimpy 305 emission laden crap) and now worth mega $$$$.
When I turned 16 I took over my dad's 1970 Camino which was bought about the same time I was born. My parents both started using the new fuel efficient Ford Escort while I got the gas guzzling beast (sorta like Eric and the Vista Cruiser in That 70's Show).
White with black vinyl top, TH350, ice cold A/C, PS, PB, PW, 350HP and the optional low geared posi. Lot's of fun times with that truck! My dad kept it 100% stock and in absolute perfect mechanical order, he even kept a log book over 17 years of every single part he replaced.
I'll never forget the day I went to raise it to do an oil change and the floor jack went right through the frame. Made me want to puke. Nearly 2 decades of use in northern Indiana took its toll on the frame as rust ate it from the inside out. We ended up selling it as a parts car for $200 bucks.
I wouldn't mind owning another one and keep an eye out for them at local car shows. $12,000 seems to be the going price for one in respectible condition.
