I recieved my Vista GPS yesterday. It is awseme all of the stuff this thing does. I have been messing with it all day yesterday and today. Thanks for pointing that one out mcoyote! I would recommend this for anyone that is looking for one. It is a little bigger than the newer cell phones, so it is not very big and it has alot of features.

I will go take some pics of it right now. I don't have the mount for the bike yet but I will post some pics of the unit.

Ok Pic #1 I put it next to a dollar bill for size reference and then I have one pic so you can see how big it is in my hand.

This thing is really cool I like the max speed thing, and then I am going to use it to calibrate my yellow box, and it comes with maps of North and South america. List price is 320 and I found it on amazon (NEW) for 233 to my door. Not bad. The have the base model Etrex's that only tell speed and are like 100$

Is there a bike mount for this one?  This one was posted earlier (http://www.stemstand.com), and I am trying to decide which one I would rather have!  What was the cost of this GPS if you don't mind me asking?

I did not get that mount. I got one off of cyclegadgets.com. It mounts to the handle bar, so it is not exactly in your view of the gauges. That should be here in a couple of days. I will post some pics of it for you.

Good job Rich. I went to Wal-Mart on Thursday night and they were completely sold out. They had the exact model you purchased. The sales guy told me that as soon as they get them in...they sell them out within a matter of 2 or 3 days. There was this one model in there that looked real neat, but cost about $400+. We received our quarterly safety award ($150 Wal-Mart gift certificate), and it's just burnin' a hole in my pocket. That would be nice and I can make up the difference if I can get a deal like you got.

BTW, have any of you guys heard of the Magellan brand of GPS?

I've seen them in Radio Shack and they seem pretty nice. There are three different models and they are pretty damn nice. I know for sure that Jester0769 has one, because he brought it to Laguna last year. I noticed that Wal-Mart carries them now also, and they were sold out as well.

I have not heard of them, then again I just started somewhat getting into it. If walmart will match online prices that would be cool. Then you would have to spend like 80 out of pocket.

The magellan GPS is a good unit, typically a bit more money. They have been out for years. Used mostly in aviation, but have sinced moved into the auto and handhled arena
I know several pilots that have them in their plane

rich,

Does it have a moving map, or show you where you are at?
Give us some more features. You are in my area, I live in the east bay, so maybe we can meet some time and take a look at it.

Thanks

Ride safe

Ya we can meet sometime. I should have the bus put back together in about 2 weeks at the most. It tells you where you are at and it moves. We took a ride in the car with it and it showed us (pointer) traveling down air base parkway and over different interesections. Pretty cool unit. I like the speed part of it, it tracks top speed, trip odometer, odometer, moving time, stopped time, average moving mph, current mph, overall mph. There is still some more stuff on it but I have not figured it all out yet.

Oh Ya it has a altemeter as well, compass. I guess alot of hikers/mountain climbers use it. I am sure there are other units out there that do the same thing but I like how compact this one is.
