Euro-spec running light

Check out Honda's CBR900RR and their SuperHawk. See that little light above the headlight? It's triangular, and almost looks like some sort of reflector except that is really is a low intensity light. THIS is a forward running light. Many European countries require them, and I am not sure why. (CBR900 and SuperHawk have them on their US-spec bikes because they didn't want to bother with having two sets of plastics) I think that it has something to do with the idea that "if your headlight goes out, then other drivers still need to see you" or maybe "a forward running light helps other drivers to identify your headlight as the headlight of a motorcycle and not say, a pedestrian with a flashlight or a bicycle with a headlight."

The wiring harness connector for the forward running light can be found on North American Busas inside the front fairing, just above the right turn signal light. It is a good source for "switched" dc power (connector becomes live when you turn on the ignition). I use it to run my built in radar detector set up.
