+1 did mine the same way as MCActually, I did the whole mod (Hi and Low) by removing the two upper dash panels and the gauge cluster...
It will depend on the kit you have though; whether it is plug and play or you have to splice in...
Not sure what you are asking here, we are talking about upgrading from stock bulbs to HID; if you want to change the stock bulbs, you can just remove the nose pan and replace the bulbs from underneath...i too would like to change my lights. any chance i could get a better discription on how you guys did it. I looked over the repair manual and i cant find the section that describes the way the above posters claim.
That part is in the manual actually, but start by removing the pushpins (1 on each side) from just below the side mirrors and then the allen bolt at the center underneath the gauge cluster. This will allow you to remove the gauge panels. Then remove the 2 bolts at the bottom of the gauge cluster and with a slight tug you can remove the cluster. Don't pull too hard because it is attached to a wire harness. Once you disconnect that harness you have access to the entire front part of the bike. Then you can replace the bulbs and attach the ballasts to the RAM air tubee. Not hard a tall.Ok maybee, i should be a little more detailed, the original poster was asking EXACTLY what pannels are needed to perform a HID swap, i realize that the manual wont show a Modifacation.
So i read that you remove the 2 upper dash panels and then the cluster. im asking if someone could give a better discription on removing these panels(which ones) and the cluster. I have not took apart that part of my bike yet and it sure would help. Thanks-Robert

Seriously, I d leave the high beam alone or consider a 4000K.thanks guys, i did some 6k's in the low beam and left the stock high beam., Its like riding in High Definition now at night, I could see how the high beam might make my next upgrade list as i do allot of night riding.
I feel you, i can still see my stock high beam past my HID now and it now appears yellow to brown. Im looking for distance at this point as if your moving along a dark road a good pace the further i can se the more confident i am.Seriously, I d leave the high beam alone or consider a 4000K.thanks guys, i did some 6k's in the low beam and left the stock high beam., Its like riding in High Definition now at night, I could see how the high beam might make my next upgrade list as i do allot of night riding.
The 6000K in the low beam is so brilliant that it can "Wash Out" certain portions of the Color Spectrum, like Brown.
The less brilliant 4000K has a yellowish tinge to it which will actually enhance the ability to see browns.
Conincidentally, a great deal of Wildlife and Live stock, are in fact, brown.
