Exhaust and Mapping Combos that work

All-

I have read several threads, and seen a variety of different combos used. I am ready to begin customizing my 04, but do not want to run the gauntlet off combos and mapping to find one that works well.
I would love to hear from any of you who are VERY pleased with pipes and accessories you've added to your Busas. Which pipes, which mappings, and any additional changes that had to be done with any particular set up. I already have the IVR, and have altered my gearing. Now I want more sound, more power, and better performance.

Suggestions?

You will find we are all individuals on this board, therefore there are alot of favorites as far as exhaust systems go.As for myself, I wave the HMF flag proudly, the look, the sound, the performance is in my opinion rivaled only by a select few.It will depend on a few factors: do you wanr the dual look, single look, polished, carbon, titanium and the lists go on. Take your time with your decision, talk to other board members, the people here won't steer you wrong! Talk to johnnycheese about mapping the Power Commander> NJ.:)

I particularly like the setup of the BDE. I will post some pics of it later this weekend if I can. Welcome to the board.

Yosh RS-3 is still good. As for mapping, to get the best your gonna need to get yourself a custom map done.

Corso1,

Since you are in Dayton OH......the one and only exhaust system to go with is BDE GEN III (BrockDavidsonGeneration 3)!  Best exhaust in every category......by far!

Check out http://www.brockdavidson.com/ for the info and he is also based out of Dayton.  If you have ever been out to Kil-Kare, you have see him a hundred times.  Real nice guy and will do anything to help you.

Shoot me an email sometime and we can meet up to ride in the summer!

Later,

Josh

I don't know what other mods you have but this is the best way to go for the money! You can't really beat it.

Got-Busa,

Yeah. I looked at that. Definately would love to sink it all at once, but family budget says otherwise!

I really wouldn't mind a pair of slip-ons, I just want to be dead positive that whatever I chose I can get mapped correctly. Call me old school, but I still miss being able to shim a needle or change a jet. Nothing worse than a poor running bike!!

As far as riding this year, sounds like a plan to me. Where abouts are you in Dayton?

I am in the Beavercreek/Fairborn area!

Once the season starts up again, Wed. night is busy at Quaker Steak & Lube. Usually between 1k and 1,500 bikes on a good night. Also Thur. is test and tune at Kil-Kare. Only a few bikes there though. Fri.-Sat. night down in the Oregon district is your best bet for just SPORTBIKES. A good turn out is 50 sportbikes but it gets boring just BS'n. When they head out for a blast is the fun part!

I'll email you back as soon as I can.

when you change the exhaust system, (i.e. replacing the stock system w/ dual HMFs) can you simply attach a Power Commander, load a map for that exhaust setup and go...or should you get the bike dynoed?

I went with Yosh RS3 Bolt-on's ($500.00 set) because it's a trusted name.
(and I like the look) Bought them at www.starcycle.com (Valencia, CA)

Pic's here - www.LA-Hayabusa.com

While the horsepower was wonderful, because of the different back preasure the bike ran rough. (way too rich) JC hooked me up with a PCIIIr & custom map and I plugged it in and wow! Lot's-o-Juice

That'll be all the tweaking I do for awhile.

Note - The RS3 comes with either a race baffel or a standard one. I went with the standard one in an effort to let my neighbors sleep. After hearing Busahaya's I'm thinking the deeper sound is nice and the neighbors still wouldn't need earplugs.

my $.02

.., trip

If you buy the BDE and a PCIIIr from Brock he will load the correct map in the PC for you. I also have the BDE Gen 3 but with the Titanium can and I run his track map and the bike flat out flies. I have never had my bike on a dyno to see what kind of HP I picked up  but I did gain 5mph in the 1/8 with the BDE exhaust.

I have an ARATA Full Titanium system I got a great deal off of E-Bay. The best thing to do to get the most HP is to have a custom map made. Each bike is a lil different and location has alot to do with the way your bike will respond.
