Exhaust Header's Cherry Red

I have an 04' Busa...

Is it common after the bike is fully warmed up that the exhaust headers turn cherry red?

I just installed a Muzzy full exhaust and remapped it with the Muzzy map using a pc III usb.

The bikes temperature is normal but headers turn cherry red….wonder if I am running lean eventhough I remapped it or is this normal……

hah, my friends 04 GSXR600 did the same thing with the Full Muzzy System. We thought the bike was running to lean aswell, but clearly its not. I think thats normal bud.

If you find out how to make it stop going red or blue, let me know. I'm shur my friend would love to know.

Glowing exhaust pipes usually mean either the bike is running extemely lean or the timing severely retarded.

Dont run the bike anymore until you can get another map in there...I am sure someone here who has a similar system can share one with you.

I wouldn't think that is normal. Check your spark plugs and see what they look like. They will tell you what is going on inside you cylinders. IF the plugs look ok, I would wrap your pipes with exhaust wrap to send all that heat out the back and get it away from the plastics and engine.

My guess is that your PAIR valve is still active and pumping air into your exhaust. This will continue combustion in your pipes and, with a single-wall aftermarket system, cause your primaries to glow red...

Just a guess.

is the header turning red as it leaves the head of the bike, if so thats normal. i have the full muzzy system and mine turned red then blue as it left the head.

Yes, it turns red from the head too about 6" to 8" down. Again its not just red its "Cherry Red" like a hot coal in a fire. But after that 6" to 8" its blue. Did you do anything to your bike other than map it? I have the Muzzy Map loaded in it from PowerCommander.

Thanks
