I did exactly the same as arey. I removed the oil cooler and radiator. Makes for a real easy job. I also removed the front wheel. Very easy access to the work areas.
Remove the mounting for the radiator and oil cooler but leave the lines connected, this way no mess, just easier. The radiator and oil cooler will swing toward the tire and give you plenty of room.
