Extension price and twisties

I gotta say, Im really digging the extended look. So I’d like to know from someone who’s done it, roughly how much would a 12” extension to the swing arm end up costing? And how much would that effect my ability to hit corners?
P.S. anyone running the voodoo shorties? What do you think, worth it?

Hi. If you want to hit corner buy a 600 and set it up for road racing. I have a 6 to 12 over arm for what I will do with the bike it is fine. I would not go with extensions get a new seing arm also you should buy a rear shock and have it set up for your weight and how long the arm is. Get extended body work so it good and an extended sub frame. To do it so it looks good and it fits good. It should run about $5,000.00.

I have a 850+lb 2006 Vulcan 2000 that I also hit twisties in that just fine, not worried about any weight or length increase. Just wondering about how much it will effect the handling.
5K for a mechanic to do the work or just in parts?

Michael has a rather crazy build he's been putting together for a long time with some crazy high end parts, he has a thread on here showing it and it's pretty cool. As far as the 12 inch extension and hitting corners its not gonna be much fun. I've ridden one that was 8-10 over and basically was having to do the speed limit or under on the freeway on some turns that I normally take at 100 plus on my stock length busa that's raised an inch in the rear. The longer length just made it a lot harder to get it to turn in and just did not feel stable to me and everyone that I know that has theirs extended says the same thing. Cost wise I have no clue but I can say the voodoo are extremely obnoxious and actually loose a little bit of power, I personally wanted the Coffman tips for a long time which are basically the same thing but look a little better and a little better quality imo but glad I didn't because I've rode with people and ridden bikes that did have them and couldn't ride for long periods listening to them.

In my opinion anything over 2-4 inches on stretch makes a drastic difference in handling. If your wanting to carve do not stretch much.

My bike came with both a 6" stretch and a voodoo shorty system. After a couple weeks I couldn't get them off the bike fast enough. That exhaust is obnoxious and the stretch just makes the bike less fun to ride. But that's my opinion.
Good to know, I was checking out the Coffman’s also but maybe I’ll just save the mun$ and ride it the way it is for now.

This comes up all the time.

To speak on the other side, the biggest impact is from lowering the bike. A 12” stretch doesn’t look good with a stock tail. Go for something like 6”. 4-6 looks good on a stock tail and still rides good. My last busa was 10-12” over, with an extended tail. Looked really good to me. Just Had to lean it over more in twisty situations, I could still hit the freeway sweepers at speed, it was just more effort.

Buy really good extensions. Try it out. You don’t like, then take em off. $350 experiment if u hate em.

Make sure you adjust the suspension after u stretch it, the longer swingarm acts to put more leverage on the shock

Hi. Just in parts. The best parts that are out there.

At what point (swing arm length), does one typically run out of adjustment and need to change shock springs / valves?
