Fallen Busa... :(

So I had to go to Afghanistan for about 6 weeks and in that time frame my new wife remoldeld my down stairs... all good in the house. Problem is she had some "help" who was working in the garage and some how.......... my completley stock minus, a few stickers and reflectors, '05 LE Graphite Grey Busa with less 8,800 miles on the bike was tipped over and landed on its right side. The most apperant damage was the brake handle as it broke at the tip. New one (some kind of factory look alike aftermarket, but not OEM)has been bought but haven't installed it yet. My question is this: There does not appear to be any fiberglass damage on the outside (just received my screen kits and am about to remove my glass to install them) what do I need to look for for any other damage? The bike started no problem for having sat for over the 6 weeks, butwhat do I need to worry about?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

P.S. Oh yea Frame sliders are in due order I just hate to cut my factory glass.

If all you had was a busted end off the brake handle, consider yourself very lucky.

If the bike sat for 6 weeks, i'd think about flushing out that gas and running some injector cleaner through it. If your plastics arent cracked, like was said above, your lucky!

Indeed so. My 06LE was pushed over by a cargo van in the parking lot and the insurance company paid out nearly $4k for repairs. You are indeed luck (including the fact that you went and returned from A-stan unharmed

Keep us posted on the repairs and if you need any other assists.

Check all the case on the side it feel on and if there is no leakage then chances are you are good to go. Like Sloto200 said might want to think about getting the old fuel out and running some injector cleaner through it. Also in reguards to the bar end sand them down and repaint or Powder coat them they will look good as new.

Thanks for the tips (no pun intended... get it... tips... tiped over bike.... ahhh never mind... that is the best I got today and shows what day I am having) I will def remove bad gas and run injector cleaner and maybe some sea foam through it with fresh gas... with prices anymore maybe I could resell the bad gas.

oooh and thanks for the education... I am no longer ignorant about the make up of my bikes PLASTIC and not Fiber Glass.

6 weeks is nothing in terms of fuel degredation. I don't even worry about it in 6 months. I have few gas powered toys/cars/jetskis. And sometimes they sit for months. I just keep the batteries charged and they always start after some time of 'hibernation'. A year or less IMO is fine.

JuiceSC is right about the gas, don't waste your time. I let vehicles sit 6 MONTHS on a regular basis without issues and my generator and snowblower have gone over a year. Here where we have this sh!tty thing called "winter", it's the norm. The stale gas thing tends to get over blown. Yes it degrades over time but it doesn't go rancid like 2 week old milk. I bought a Corvette that sat in storage for 5 years and drove it home gently on that 5 year old gas.

As far as the tip over goes, if you're not finding any scratches on the plastic or near the inlet of the muffler, I can't see how it fell over. Only way it would have survived blemish free would be if you already had sliders installed. The brake and clutch levers are made to snap off on light impact. Maybe someone just moved the bike and bumped the clutch lever on something? Or another theory would be the contractor was "trying it on for size" and it fell over with his body breaking the fall. In that case you'll probably be getting sued shortly since he hurt himself on your property.
