FI Error Bike Won't Start

The bike had interrupted the ride with an FI displayed. Just a stutter and it would catch and continue on. I dropped some FI cleaner into the tank but no change, it would stutter on a ride and then get going again. Then it stopped at a light and refused to start with a FI displayed. With some friends, we got it into the truck and home where it's been sitting all winter.

I guess the main question is how do I generate or view error codes to see if there's more information on the problem? I hesitate to drop $250 a pop on an injector without knowing if that's the problem :)

Thanks.

Carl

Error codes are lost once the bike is turned off. Do a search for 'dealer mode' to see a simple way to enable it. I'd post a pic, but don't have one at the ready.

Since the experts here will ask later: what year, any engine mods, and what kind of gas do you use? How does the inside of the tank look?
I know on Gen 1's there are two capped plugs in the tail of the back by the reg/rec that you can use to put the bike in "dealer mode".

2002, none, regular gas. It's more of a touring bike so the mods are mainly around the bike vs the engine. I do have a PCIII on it I believe (not sure if a II or III is all; it's been quite a few years since I had that done).

I'd have to check. It was full when I brought it home. I dumped stabil into the tank as much as I could but as noted, couldn't start it so none through the fuel system.

I will check that and my service manual as it might note it there as well.

Thanks.

Carl
