Finally got to ride today

I am getting tired of driving to the coast all the time. decided to drive up to the mountains.. closer anyway, I can be in mountain twisties within 30 minutes, where as when I go to the coast I am looking at 1.5 hours before I see anything.

And then there is always the fact the mountains are much nicer to look at (for me anyway)

Sorry about some of the pics, I didn't get batteries for my digital camera and only got a couple of shots off. the ones that look kind of poor quality are from my camera phone...

I went as far as I could go until they had a ranger making people put chains on. Since I forgot my chains for the Busa I had to turn back..

I did get to race a brand new porche on the way back.. sweet looking car. Guy actually thought he could touch me. He didn’t even pull me on the short straights. I was right on his arse taking it easy, then I had a chance of about 7 cars that were bumper to bumper. I nailed it and he didn’t have the acceleration to pull it off. Never saw him again

Bummer...

Wow, from green to white in 1 trip. You guys have some great places to ride! I have nothing like that here where I am. Since Christmas, all I could do is sit on my bike in the garage (and look at the snow) I'm jealous

At least you had fun!

Must have been a neat ride. I used to keep my sticker on my left inner like you've got, but when I got my inners painted I moved it down to a bracket off my outer left pinch bolt. Nice bike.....nice gear too!

Yeah, actually today was one of those days if I would have went to the coast, would have been nice coastal weather, about a 2 to 3 hour ride.

Opting for the mountain scene, it takes me about 30 minutes to get to the foothills, and about 1.5 hours until I started to hit the snow. (one hour after I hit the foothills)

I was the only motorcycle that went as far as I did. I was by myself anyway, but I got to about the 6000 ft level and nothing but cars.

Matter of fact I don’t think I saw any motorcycles past about 2000 feet

When I pulled up to the ranger who was making people put their chains on, she just looked at me, smiled and laughed.. And I said.. " I guess I got to turn around huh?" and she laughed and said "yep"

Did you build the snowman?
No, on my way up there was a family in a van, 2 young girls, mom and a dad. On the way up I saw the girls building the snowman with dad in the van and mom outside watching the girls playing, mom smiled at me as I drove by so I nodded to her.

On the way back down I pulled up behind them just as they were leaving, thought it would be a nice pic with the Busa parked on the ice, snow and water in front of the snow man lol.

More snow and water than ice… I was getting clumps on snow falling on me from branches time to time as I was driving…. It was cool (no pun intended

Thanks MC for the compliment.

Hey, could you do me a favor? could you maybe snap a pic of where you have your located (blot out the dod stuff of course) and either post it here, or email it to me.

Where I have it mounted is about the best place I could think of, but there are some mods I want to do that I cant because of where I have the stickers.

I would like to see where you have your, sounds like it might be better than where I have mine,.

I know you described it, but I can't visualize it that well.

A picture is worth a thousand words dontchyaknow

Looks like fun. It's nice that we can ride all year here in Florida (when our bikes aren't in the shop) but we surely don't have the scenery and varying terrain. I hope to make it out to the Co ride for something different.

Looks like a great ride!

Where is your exhaust? You turbo'd? I didn't know...

Yeah, that is one of the tough decisions that always come up when I think about taking a job somewhere or wanting to move out of state.

I hate the fricken gun laws here, they suck. And every year a bunch of people with nothing better to do sit around and create new stupid laws infringing on our rights even more.

And I could go on and on..

But then I think on how both my wife and my family's are here.

And about our location.. right now we are in our foggy season that lasts about 2 months. But after that, we really are in a prime location.

2 hours to L.A.

1.5 hours to Magic mountain

5 - 6 hours to San Diego

8 Hours to Vegas

6 hours to Reno

2 hours from the beach

2 hours from the mountains.

About 45 minutes to about 3 different lakes.

And I have a boat, a 4x4, a Busa so the family and I pretty much take advantage of summer and winter..

Summer time, it is all about boating, tubing, riding the busa, going to the coast

Winter time. Mountains, snow skiing, sitting by the fireplace at home, down time for the Busa for a few months to do mods. Sometimes taking the Busa out like today to hit the mountains and the snow. Its cool riding the Busa in the mountains with snow everywhere.

So when I think of all we have, it really makes it difficult to justify moving anywhere.

Especially on top of everything else, I really enjoy where I work and I have been there for 7 years. Great bosses, great co-workers, a feeling that what I am doing is important and makes a difference. Plus I have my side business that I would have to give up and that is doing fairly well.

(I mention this because I had another thread about a possible job opportunity in Virginia)

Yeah, central valley air sucks, but if you can get past that, kind of a cool place to live I guess

Hey BusaFever -

Nope, no turbo.. home made exhaust mod I did.. kind of turned out well..

Here is a link to the thread I posted on here.

Shows pics of the left and right exhaust.. and if you scroll down I have a post in the thread with a video that allows you to hear it.

Surpisingly, no backfires and runs awesome... and I have not even put a PCIIIr on it yet..

Now wouldnt that have caught everyones attention if I pulled the bike over and put chains on lol..

Thought about that on the way back. was wondering if they do make any kind of cables for the tires and if so how it would ride....

Anyone know?

I might be headin' down south next weekend you want to ride.
Any idea where and when?

Saturday is pretty much shot. I made a commitment to someone to help them for a few hours at noon time on Saturday. it will only take me a few hours though. I might even be able to maybe move my help up a few hours.

If you want to get together Sunday I am pretty much free all day.

I normally go to church and get out at 9:45. So after that time would be cool.

But my pastor would forgive me if I missed one service if need be

Let me know what you have going on and what you can work in.

The biggest challenge I have is my wife will be gone until late Saturday So I will have to find someone to watch my three boys if we went on Saturday.

Let me know...

My schedule is flexible I was thinkin' about riding one day in your area and the other day down in So Cal. Might hook up with Charles, Owen and anybody down there that wants to ride

Great pics TF, I also plan on doing a little sight seeing in a few months up north when I visit my daughter in Visalia. Maybe we could hook up. Are you still making that trip down to L.A., I remember you saying you might be coming down sometime in Feb.?
