First Real Ride On The Busa

V-Max 2 Busa

Yesterday I took my first real ride on the busa, went up to the dyno shoot-out at Apex Mototech in Chico, about a 100 mile run. WOW this thing is literally like a rocket ship on wheels, and I thought my V-Max's were fast, this is definetly a whole different riding experience. This is my first sport bike so I'm still getting a feel for the bike and still have a great deal of respect for it's potential, shoot while passing multiple cars & big rigs I was thoroughly impressed with the acceleration and level of ease to pass so many vehicles at one time, glancing down at the tach I was surprised that I was only up to 6,000 RPM, holy crap there's a lot more, isn't there? I am curious about one thing, I notice a slight vibration thorought the whole bike, I'm assuming that the busa has solid motor mounts and I'm just feeling the vibration of the engine, keep in mind the only thing I have to compare it to is the V-Max with it's rubber engine mounts. Anyhow it was a good ride and got to meet some fellow Hayabusa.org members, also got to see some of the cool mods that I still need to do to mine. After returning to the shop it only took about an hour to clean all the bugs off the bike, helmet & jacket but I couldn't stop there, started taking more stickers off the bike, looks so much cleaner without them, especially the ones all over the frame (kinda funny that I get paid to design, produce & install decals but when it comes to my personal vehicles off they go). Well gotta go, looks like a good day to do an oil & filter change, clean & lube the chain and install the new chrome chain guard.

Only because I get to be the first one to say it...

Pics?

And welcome. Personally, if I get another cruiser the VMax will be an option...if I can find one.

I always loved the V-Max!

Wait until you really feel the Busa pull. Hang on tight and try a full twist in 2nd gear and let her come close to redline! Make sure you have plenty of room in front of you cause it will suck the world towards you at a blinding rate of speed! When she gets above 7000rpms, the beast in her breaks lose! I will never ever forget the first time I did that. I screamed with delight into my helmet and had to go see my GF! That bike is better than Viagra!

You should think about doing the Vegas trip in a couple of weeks!

I was in a dealship in the LA area the other day and they had a new V-Max sitting on the floor for sale!

Already posted pics back in December when I bought the bike but for you pic addicts, here ya go. How bout the vibration, is that normal? Maybe I'll have to let a fellow busa rider take her for a spin to confirm that it's normal. I bought the bike used and just want to make sure everything is right . Friday I went to pick up a cheapo riding jacket, look what I ended up with.

Love the pics! And that Vanson is the "cheapo"? They make some great stuff, Vanson does!

As far as the vibration, have you checked chain tension? Are the wheels aligned? How do the tires look? And the idea of leeting another Busa owner ride it is a good one.

Shanling, I have never purchased street riding gear except for a helmet thus I went shopping with the mindset of spending bout 100 bucks on a jacket figuring that would be a "cheapo". I do have a tendancy to be a bit extravagent at times so when I saw & tried on the Vanson I knew it was the one, irrigardless of the 600 dollar price tag. Now about letting another busa owner ride my bike, what's so odd about that? I would definetly not let some eager stunter kid jump on my busa just to see if he could do a stopee. I'm sure I could find a respectable, mature adult that would be willing to ride it with respect.

I said the idea of letting another Busa owner ride your bike was a GOOD one, not odd!

Maybe I misinterpreted what you meant, I didn't read it like you meant it was a good idea, I read it like " that's a good one" you know? Like if something I said was comical.

Ahhh, I see. Just so you know, I am an old guy from the old school of thought. Us old folks say what we mean. If something is good, it is "really" good. If something is bad, that is the opposite of good and we mean that. Make sense? See, my generation is now wondering just what Micheal Jackson really meant when he came out with that song "Bad". Especially in light of the knowledge we now have of his tendancies.

So, I think you should find another Busa over to ride your bike and see if he feels that same vibration. Let me rephrase, I thought it was a great idea!

One other thing guys, starting my ride back yesterday I seemed to have missed a gear in upshifting, seemed to hit neutrel between 5th and 6th gear, what's up with that?

WHen you notice the vibration, where does it start? Most Busas pick up a buzz somewhere around 4K...

Like Shawn said, around 4k you will feel a vibration. there are threads in here about putting rubber bushings in to help the vibration. I bought a couple round bushings and put them in between the tank the the frame and it helped alot. Most of the vibration is felt there.

Oh and by the way nice pics and v-max is a great bike. Rode a buddies in the 90's and loved the thing...

There is a kind of false nuetral between 5th and 6th gears. Shift like you mean it and all will be fine. Nice bike and I too have rode and like the Vmax. It is the only "Cruiser" style bike I would comsider.

When my bike was new I would get a false neutal between 5 and 6. Now with more miles on the bike it rarely happens.
