First Time To The 1/4

I finally made it over to the local 1/4 mile strip. I have a LOT to work on. I'm 215 lbs in gear. The bike is completely stock other than the pipe. I had a string of 10.8xx's.

What is the bike? Obviously the 60' is what you need to focus on. You should be able to get into the 1.6's with a stock wheelbase Busa, and on good passes into the 1.5's. That will take a full second off your current et. You are doing well for your first day out. I would lower the bike, put a strap on the front, and add some gearing.

I remember my first run down the strip, it didn't go well! lol! I stalled the bike, due to being so nervous and overwhelmed with instructions and advice! They told me to go on the second set of yellow lights, because you never beat the green! I saw the second set of yellows and immediately saw the green, I was like "OH CRAP" ! Next thing I know I've killed the engine, and the crowd gives the famous "AHHHH!" I still have it on video somewhere.

Sorry bro, but I laughed out loud as that is exactly what I would do. Cant wait to see the video.

A few guys have been telling me that I need to get rid of the back torque limiter

What does that do? Reduce weight is all I can think of. I have probably felt that thing come one three times in the 11,000 miles I've ridden the bike. first gear two times, maybe. Once in second. It only comes into play when I am extremely aggressive on the street. I enjoy doing the same thing with the clutch lever. I really don't need that slipper clutch on my busa. It might be a life saver for road racing but I have no clue what it does for other riding. I can't see it interfering with drag racing except it's a little extra weight.

Nice work your first time at the drag strip. Never done it myself but I really ought to.

I think with no experience being in the tens is good. I have never had my busa on the strip.

Paderolis I fully understand how that can happen. My dad is cool enough that he has let me make a hand full of runs in his drag car. as simple as it is hit the trans brake floor it and let go of the button. Had like 3 second lights or I wasn’t even in the throttle.

My first pass I had a 1+ second reaction time and I shut down at the 1000 foot mark only to realize that I had more than 300 feet left to go.

The back torque limiter makes it near impossible to consistantly launch under power on the Busa . This is covered numerous time on the org , the Brocks clutch mod is the fix , sold by Powerhouse . You can also read what Frank has said about it in his posts . So much easier to launch , no hit or miss with this mod .

The back torque limiter makes the clutch on mine very grabby. If I try leaving to hard, the clutch goes from slipping to locked almost instantly. It could be lack of experience too. I have ridden a Busa with a welded hub and the clutch application was much easier to control, but the lever was far to heavy for me to ride in traffic.

Go for it! It's a lot of fun for not much money.
