Florida Drivers!

I swear, these idiots are TRYING to kill motorcyclists! Mommy (not paying attention) with her little boy in the front seat pulled out of the grocery store parking lot, across two lanes of oncoming traffic and across the median before pulling halfway into my lane. Darned near ran over me. It is amazing how quickly the Busa will stop when you need it to, and it is good that folks behind me were paying attention.

Moms with nothing between their ears should not be allowed to become moms!

Number one task: DRIVE THE CAR!!! (Implicitly, paying attention is a requirement to successful driving!)

This time of year with all the Blue Hairs on the roads, I treat every driver as if they are blind - but sometimes you can't see THEM until it's almost too late!
Good job avoiding the incident and I'm sure we are all happy to see your reaction times are still short!

good eye bro- glad you are able to post up right now:thumbsup:
and yeah- its the same way here- except you also gotta look out for the pizza guy, the student whos late for class, the boyfriend who just found out his chick really aint his chick, you get the idea...

Yeah, it is rather amazing. I actually had an opportunity to talk to a local police officer a couple days ago (I reported neighborhood riff raff), and understand lotsa drivers out here are indeed TRYING to kill us motorcycle riders! :saburn: My grip is that, almost every time I ride, I have to avoid an accident with at least one idiot. Blue hairs are an issue, but most of the time the problem is Mommy on her cell phone. Truly, phones have GPSes. Texting while driving should be rendered impossible while the phone is moving at any speed more than, say, five miles an hour.

But... will government actually do something that helps ensure folks's safety?? How many more avoidable fatality accidents will it take?

Nope...not all of us Mike...they're just trying to kill you. I never have to avoid anyone, ever! Everyone treats me with respect, nobody ever cuts me off or veers in front of while texting or pulls across me turning left while going through a light. It is just you mate. Sorry. Probably that riffraff you were reporting trying to get ya!

Just kidding of course. While it's true we're living in a country where most states allow the kids' parents to teach them to drive (thus propagating their ignorance and poor technique...kinda like inbreeding), and not have to take a driving test before getting a license, the truth is it has never been any better. I have been riding for two generations and on two continents and I promise you that.

And before you complain about Florida, try riding in Dallas. These wankers are fekkin' homicidal!!!

Critterdoc,

As a fellow Texan, I have witnessed some amazing driving on our state highways... I think Alabama... or Mississippi... takes the cake, though!

Not sure I rate as a Texan Mike...I am a displaced Cockney! But I do love it here and Texas has been very good to me. Not the most beautiful part of the world to ride in though.

And if you started off here and moved to Florida, well, you only have yourself to blame!

Critterdoc, the military told me <TOLD ME...> to move to Florida. Heheheh. You should tour the Hill Country in springtime... (Hmmm, THAT would be a beautiful ride to share with a lovely young lady one of these days! Might have to outfit my bike for some light touring!)

I'm more afraid of minivans on the highway than 18 wheelers... guns don't kill people - moms with cell phones do...

Whatever state you're in make sure you ride like you can't be seen. I haven't done it on the Busa, but came to a stop a long time ago in sixth gear
