I found an imaculant 05 black and silver for $8000 plus tax etc. The only drawback is that the bike has 12000 miles. With a Busa, that isn't a lot. But... I'm hoping you guys can give me some feed back on the milage thing. Any input would be appreciated.

Copperone,
My 05LE has ~12,200 miles. I bought it May 06, 2006 with 1595 miles on it. No probs or issues other than low hp for my mods and that is a result of the tune. It is going in this winter to have the valves adj, TBs sync'd and maybe cams.

MY 05 HAS 7K MILES AND NO PROBLEMS BUT YES THAT IS ALOT TO BAD YOU WERENT CLOSE I CAN GET AN 03 WITH 1800 MILES FOR 7

Mileage numbers are a bit irrelevant, especially with such a bullet-proof engine. If it has been taken care of and has no obvious issues, you should be fine. Check the tranny, clutch, look at the intake, chain, etc. I'd buy one with 50K if it has been in good hands. Heck, I'd take mine with 40K+.

Thanks for the input guys. I was able to talk to the guy who serviced it. And... according to him it has been babied. I'm going to think about it over the weekend. We'll see how it goes. Thanks again.

12K is nothing. I just don't understand the double standard when it comes to bike mileage. A car with 12K miles is considered brand new. Nearly every modern motorcycle on the road is 4 stroke and liquid cooled just like a car engine. If not abused, a Busa engine should go 100K miles with little to no problems.

As far as $8,000 goes...way the hell too much. You can buy a brand new '06 for maybe $1500 more and have a warranty. I'd also take the mechanics word with a grain of salt, unless he was riding pillion from day one he has no way of knowing for sure that it's been babied. My biggest fear would be buying a bike from someone who couldn't shift worth a damn (search for the skipping/jumping/ratcheting 2nd gear problem) or by someone who broke the bike in by the retardo tune method. Uncertain history and no warranty isn't worth a mere $1500 bucks imo.

My 05 has 25K, so I would not be concerned with the milage. Turbo torch has a good point with the price of a new one. If you like the color of the 05 use the price of a new one and try to negotiate the price down. Ask the owner for the service records, take a look at the condition of the tires, rubber if needed to be replaced will cost a couple hundred. Brake pad wear, rotor condition, chain and sprockets are all things that may need attention. You did not mention any mods, but if the bike has had some $ spent on things like exhaust, power commander, wheels or bling, the asking price may be a little more in line with the market. If you have anyone from the org near you ask them if they would take a look at it with you and give you their opinion. Just my .02

I think 8K is a decent buy.. IF;

Tires are fairly fresh
Chain and sprocket are in good shape
No scuffs/dings etc..
Seller can prove properly timed maint. records.

Does it have any extras??

By the way...you may or may not know this.....but the Black/Silver '05 IS the fastest color! hahaha!!!

The bike does have a pc, black double bubble, scorpian alarm, and suzuki jell seat. These are all thing I will be buying it I don't get this bike. We'll definately be working on the price. You all have given me great input, and I really appreciate it. Tires are near new, bike looks brand new. No nicks dings or scratches anywhere. Rode it and transmission and motor feel very solid. No problems with shifting at all.
