From Wheelies To Spinage...tire Time!

Getn off

still learning this beast! A year and a half on my mostly stock 13 that I just turned 6500 miles on. I mostly ride easy with spirited times when I can find the right roads. I have shocked myself more times than not while accelerating. I have learned to spin the wrist after I am back pointed straight. I concurrently lean up the tank, and twist and let the smile ensue!
Three times last week I have done precisely this, but with a new result...tire spinnage! If I didnt lean far enough before, the front would come up quickly. Now, it seems that the tires are done. They honestly dont look too bad, but they are not gripping any longer. Yes, it cooled down last week...60s, hey, that is FL cool!
I have done my dutifull research on tires and have settled on the PS3 or 4s. Wanting grip over all else btw.
Will post up when I get em changed. Probably gonna be a couple weeks now.
Figured it was best to swap em out before I loose grip on the front tire instead!
Just thought I would share.

Not trying to ask them to do more than they should ~ if you buy a higher number they'll last longer . . .

However, that also means that they will not stick nearly as well as the lower number tires !

What I've found out is that the 180 / 55 " HOOK - UP " works great for the drags.

I wouldn't ask that tire to perform well heading up to an Idyllwild ride !

The " ADVANCE " 005 would be my choice for curving roads .

The " APEX " 010 would last me a little bit longer.

Buy whatever you want to go ride with ?

I'm OK~ with a cheaper Shinko.

Just my two cents here.

That is a good point. I thought, being a leftover '13 a year and a half ago that maybe the tires are a bit old too. I think, for piece of mind, and roughly $150, I might sleep better. Next round I will probably wait on the front a bit longer. Besides, I can't wait for new shoes. Can't image how much better she will be with non oem rubber!
Thanks for the help.

The temp can certainly effect grip but mileage wise you're prob are due. I've had good luck with continentals and pirellis. Always hear good stuff about Michelins.

Put my hands on them and decided to go with the Dunny Q3s. If my sprocket gets in by Friday, she should be rolling by Sat! Sure, the sprocket (+3 rear) aint gonna help the wheelie situation, but F it.

crap man i didnt realize i guess that you are on stock shoes. Ya i would have dumped them the day after i got the bike.

Finished. Not to bad. A few tricks I didn't expect...rear brake assy has to slide in that damn groove! And my front stand rubbed the disc slightly. Other than that it went well. New Q3s front and rear, new +3 rear sprocket (TY Tim @pashnit), new metal 90 degree valve stems, and lil cleaning up.
Test ride went well. Damn, these sound like my drag radials on the Mustang the amount of road chit they throw up! Cant wait to get em broken in.

Stocks suck...
Pp3 are good once you do a little spin/rolling burn out or are very warm but last about 5k miles plus
Og pilot powers are very sticky, but don't last long with wheelies or racing but well worth it

i miss my pilot powers....best tires i ever road on in my opinion.
