Front Fender Replacement

Just got my new fender in after several weeks of waiting and went to install it only to find out that it will not go on with out taking the front tire off. There is a bracket that holds the brake line on the right hand side which is riveted in place and it will not clear the fork tubes. Is there anyway to install this with out taking the front tire off?

You will need to drill the rivets out, really easy. Start with a drill bit just slightly bigger than the hole and keep working up in sizes until the rivet falls out. Obviously you will want to put a peice of plywood or whatever between the fender and the tire so you don't accidentally drill the tire.

Then put your new fender in and either rivet the bracket back on or go to Home depot and get a smooth headed bolt and a couple of nuts to mount the bracket. Put the bolt in from the inside so the nuts are on the outside of the fender.

Squeeze it, that is how I have done two before. This was recommended by a mechanic and it has worked for me. The easiest, is just to pull the wheel. I wouldn't drill it at all.

Make sure you cover it with a sheet of plastic first so you dont scratch the paintwork when you slide it in! Changed mine last week.
