Front fork seal

I was asked by Scottybusa to post a step by step on front fork seal replacement.
1. Find some way to lift the bike to get the front tire off the ground with proper clearence. Pick the bike up using a strap and run the strap around the frame behind the handlebars.
2. Remove the front brakes.
3. Remove the tire.
4. Remove the front fender.
5. Lossen the bolts on the triple tree that for the damaged front fork, but it is advisable to replace both at one time.
6. Take the dampner screws / bolt out, and drain the oil, which by the way is VERY expensive.
7. Get an air gun hammer (like used to change tires) and find the proper long (4inch)metric allen head socket (7mm I think) and take the bolt loose in the bottom of the shock. There is a hole there for the allen to go through.
8. Once the bolt is out pull the upper part of the shock out and set it to the side.
9. Pull the top dust cover off.
10. Using some needle nose pliers remove the clip inside the bottom tube.
11. Be careful during this step and don't scare the tube, but use a flat head screwdrive to pry out the old seal. When it lets go, IT WILL FLY somewhere.
12. Place the new seal on the top, push as far with your hand, making sure it stays flat, and find something, I used a socket to tap the seal down to its proper position. It will not take alot of force.
13. Put the dust cover back on and slide the upper part of the shock back in and from there reverse the order to put it back together.

Something I forgot to mention is that when you take the top cap off, THERE WILL BE TENSION from the spring inside, and it will fly away, so be carful.

Put the proper amount of oil in the fork, put it back on the bike, set your dampining, and take her for a spin. It took me about 1 hour per shock.

I hope this helps.
