I read somewhere that by turning the screw head in the lower forks one way or the other increases or decreases firmness....I turned it in 4 clicks yesterday and it seemed to loosen it,not real sure what i was doing i set it back where it was...can anybody shed some light on this.my front is lowered a good 2" and sometimes bottoms out(potholes..etc) on my $450 aftermarket front fender...ouch!! it actually just took a chip out of the paint.im trying to prevent this from happening again without haveing to raise the front up since i really like the look.
thanx

look for member raydog. he adjusted my front forks and its way stiffer now and it completly changed the ride. for the better. but yes you can stiffin them. also you have to adjust the screws at the top by the handle bars as well, but like i said contact raydog as i have not that good of a grasp of the specifics.

hmmm.he doesnt mention anything about making adjustments to the lower front fork screw...but thanks, ill have to re- read that when my kids arent running around..

The lower screw you mention is the Compression damping adjustment. The more clicks you turn it in increases the compression damping of the front fork. Turning it in four clicks should have stiffened up(slowed down the stroke of the fork on compression)the compression markedly. Look in section 6-29 of the PDF Busa manual for a complete explanation.

so this is what i want,I dont want it to "bottom out" so easily.....how many clicks can you concievably turn it?? and how stiff is too stiff?

Since you have it loweered 2" in front I take it you don't do a ton of twisties , so stiffen it up all the way and ride it . then you can go 1 click at a time back so the bumps don't kill your wrists until it starts to bottom again .
