Front sprocket removal

Hi All,
Pick up my '03 next week, looking to gear down to 16 / 40.

Do I need a special tool to get the front sprocket off ?
Or is it supplied by Suzuki in the bike's tool kit ?

Cheers.

32MM or a 1 1/4

(2001) Doing that mod now.... and ordering a new chain and rear cog. Always something....

I agree, the only way to get it off is with an impact gun and socket! Best of luck! Go ahead and order 2 front sprockets if you are going to be launching hard!

Thanks guys !

Just what I needed to find out ..
With the impact wrench, isn't that gonna put harsh axial stresses on the countershaft bearings ?
I don't like the idea of using a hammer anywhere near a bike !
Sounds like the only other option is a pneumatic rattle-gun .. expensive !

BTW - What's the rear axle nut size .. same ?

I think the rear is around a 32mm... can't remember off the top of my head.

I used the impact on mine easy as pie. If you don't have a impact get a breaker bar and leave it in gear (with the chain on and back tire on the ground) and break it loose.

May help for someone to hold the rear brake down too. Had my son do this. It took a BIG breaker bar to get that nut loose

When putting the nut back on, what is the recommended torque setting?

Juggler if you are going to do this let me know I've got an impact hammer gun. And have a copy of the manual with all the torques if you need the specifics

Dezzy,

You da man! Thanks for the offer on the impact gun. I've got one, but I would like to get the torque info from you at some point.

Thanks,
