Fuel Gauge Stuck on E After Rust Removal

After a few years of down time due to medical problems I got my bike running again.
Sadly, the down time resulted in a rusty tank. The Evaporust posts on this forum helped with the clean out! While cleaning out the tank I also decided to convert to LED lights in the front. (H7 LED Light Bulbs 6500K 16Watt and T10 Xenon White ??Watt) The lights work great. Because of the severity of the rust I did the built-in filter bypass and put an inline filter on. (High pressure gas line and clamps were used.)

Now the fuel gauge shows empty with the warning light even though it is full. The gauge does a full swing when the ignition is turned on, but then returns to empty and stays there. I pulled the tank again and verified that all of the connections are clean and everything is seated properly. I have put some miles on it after with no problems and performance is where I would expect it. (Man I missed riding...)

I checked the forums and online and saw the issues with HID and possible stuck needle. No HID and the needle does the full swing.

Any advice or suggestions on what to check?

You could measure resistance of the output when you move the float...but if you had enough rust to matter, it may have also also messed up the contacts on the level sensor inside.
