FUEL PUMP HEAT SHIELD

What are the detrimental effects of leaving the foam 'blanket' off the fuel pump / regulator assembly when remounting it?

I know it will get hotter faster on hot days, but at 40+ psi, how many problems can there be?

To my eye (untrained) it seems like access would be improved and any leaks etc. could be spotted sooner.

BUY SOME HEAT SHIELD ANT TIE STRAP IT THEN ACCESS IS EASY AN PUMP HEAT IS MINIMAL.PUT SOME UNDE YOU AIRBoX AND UNDERBELLY OF TANK WHILE YOUR IN THERE!

THANKS KAWABUSER, YOUR OK NO MATTER WHAT EVERYONE ELSE SAYS.IT ALSO HELPS THE AIR TEMP SENSOR READ A LITTLE MORE ACCURATELY if you use some heat shield around its base.

MOTORHEAD I NEEDED THAT,

YOSH RACE Hayabusa has a reflective coating applied to the airbox and the fuel tank bottom.

---------------------------

And a heat reflective cloth attached to the oil pan to reflect the exhaust systems heat from the oil in the sump.

How about golf ball dimples in the ram air ducts and directional vanes in the airbox lid, dont tell me you have them too!

It is ok to tell ancient Chinese secrets, but not all the current japanese secrets! Some Ninja will be waiting, those pesky ninja's are always waiting!

YOU MEAN LIKE THE PUNCH IMPRESSIONS USED INSIDE OF PORTS THAT ALL THE NASCAR MOTOR GUYS USE? THEY USE THESE AFTER THE WET POINT OF THE SYSTEM BEGINS IN ORDER TO REINTRODUCE LAMINAR FLOW BACK INTO THE AIRSTREAM.

I ONLY ROUNDED OFF ALL SHARP EDGES AND CONTOURED THE POINTS OF ENTRY INTO THE BOX TO TRY AND SMOOTHEN THE AIRS TRANSFER TO THE BOX and over the sur faces toward the stacks.

MOTORHEAD this is a worthy topic and no body has nothing to say.

Some sparkplug threads have 80 posts,I have an idea! Watch this one!

I am being quiet for a little bit some people might see something I say so for the next 2 weeks I will be a little quiet on the board about preformace. the other channels still flow info.

Cheese spill the curd my friend, don't get wrapped up tight like a cheese ball.

Come on whats lurking.

If not here send it off line, hemillard@snet.net

I have asked for airbox input so please speak now, some real "others" have offered their input. Come on cheese spread the cheese!

I started the post.
I zip tied the stock insulation back on (I split it on removal). Besides it's cold enough in the shed that I don't need it around the beer can!
I did order foam backed reflective aluminum, will put that on airbox when the CR9EK's come.
Thanks for all the input.

JohnnyC--I know you did not start the thread, although thats what I typed in. I was refering to your last post where you said you would be quiet.

Anyway--No way no how I would remove the insulation. Hot fuel and a Hot pump can not help performance.
Air temp sensor? Higher the temp, leaner the mixture and vice versa.
