Well folks....I felt kinda foolish ordering up a full exhaust without a PC as this is the first full exhaust I've ever mounted up WITHOUT simultaneously addressing Fuel/Air issues...but Ivan knew I was on the fence with the PC and talked me into trying "Just The Pipe"...and then if I was sorely disappointed he'd 2nd day me a PCIIIUSB.

I've already had the Smart TRE installed for quite some time and just this past week mounted up the Akro "Race" full system and Pair Removal kit...then synched my throttle bodies to perfection and finally this evening took'er out for her first trial run...just a short 30 minute stint up the interstate and here's my observations of the full system sans a PC.

The first dif I noticed with the full system was the engines ability to sweep through the revs far quicker than with the stock exhaust...then?..the bikes wot acceleration 1st-3rd was just sickening as compared to the stock exhaust...from a dead stop in 1st gear wot acceleration would see the front wheel rising skyward with authority and I actually had to roll off a tad to let'er settle down a bit to upshift into what became a 2nd gear power-wheelie which carried the front wheel a few inches off the asphault almost all the way into 3rd...pretty amazing performance especially since with no PC I was expecting the worst like decel backfiring, surging and stumbling however....I can't say "All Was Perfect & Rosey" as follows..

Once I established that my busa seems to run fine and accelerates like a bat outta he11?..I started testing and observing other aspects and here's what I encountered...

Biotch #1: "part throttle acceleration" going wot from low range revs of less than about 4K rpms did exhibit a bit of hesitation closely followed with "a surge" of power...no doubt a low-range lean condition..but anything from 5K up seemed fine...more than fine.

Biotch #2: "Low Rev Cruising" HOLDING any speed in the higher gears at anything under 4K seemed to be a tad hollow and flat on power like the engine was unsettled...until you twist it..and then it was right back to scaulded dogsville.

All in all?...The drive-ability was "acceptable" but you couild tell it could be better in the low-end...much better...but despite the low-end/cruise/hesitation issues?...she was still snotty fast in the acceleration dept. as compared to the stock exhaust performance.

Other Noteables?....

"Handling": When I hit my first curve it was readily apparent that I was azzed on a much lighter busa...no doubt about it....the weight loss was very noticable.

and one other thing...that synch job I did on the throttle bodies?...despite any apparent air/fuel tuning issues?...the engine was obviousely far smoother with way less felt vibes.

That's about it for now and...

Sounds cool

So are ya gonna order the PCIIIusb

more than likely but not in any rush...only had a short ride so far and have a few other options I'd like to explore just for shiz and giggles.
Jinkster I bought the Cobra FI2000R pc...its 197 bucks delivered, and well worth it I think. It alone made a BIG diff in the throttle response, smoothness and driveability on my Busa with just slip-ons

The bike actually felt noticeably stronger everywhere....I was VERY pleasantly suprised

I plugged it in with the slip-ons already on the bike so the diff was strictly the pc.
It doesn't need a gazillion map adjustments...it doesn't bypass your stock map and sensors....and I would bet it makes as big an improvement as a pcIIIUSB. I used the recommended settings it came with, with np whatsoever.
I'm sure the performance diff will be even more dramatic on a full system. The only drawback is its kinda tough to plug the connectors in. It piggybacks off your fuel injection connectors...and their a bit of a biatch to get to. But its a set it and forget it affair...which is what I like

Does Akroprovic give out the internal core diameter of the race system cannister ?

If so , I would be interested in knowing what it is and if they are still tuning by using a tapered core or if they are using the same ID from entry to exit " muffler core " .

Jinkster, are you still running the stock gearing?

Bill,

I'm running the same exhaust with a PCIII from JC, pair valve removed, stock intake, etc. I felt much better all around acceleration. Near redline I'd call it violent

The bike is much smoother at low speed as well. No surging or other typical low speed, stop and go riding problems. Your always welcome to check it out if you're in the Lakeland area.

Thank you very much FLKM...and as long as we're on the topic?..how about meeting for breakfast and a ride this coming sunday?...L8R, Bill.

Did you modify the airbox?
yes and no...yes with respect to the PAIR supply port being capped off and being plugged from the relocation of my I.A.T.S. (Intake Air Temp. Sensor)....which I relocated into my left ram air duct...outside of that?...no...the flapper and diaphrame are still in there and operational with no holes chopped through my airbox.
