Full exhaust system w/out pc

I am considering buying a busa that has a full system Yosh RS-3 exhaust, but no power commander. The bike has 3,500 miles. My question is, is it probable that engine damage has taken place or will it if pc is not used soon?

? I am not sure if it has the Zyclone or race baffle. Would that make a difference anyway??? Please respond before I buy a bike that may already have valve damage.

Thanks.

Im no bike FI specialist but I'll chime in on this to see if I can assist a bit....

The engine should see no damage minus the PC, the bike may run a bit lean/rich and / or the timing may be a bit off, which will make the bike run somewhat poorly.

But no damage.

there are other ways to program a bike without a PC....
Teka for example used by many will modify the OEM ECU.
A history of the machine would be useful to you.

Honestly, if you do not have the mechanical knowledge needed, then it would be in your best interst to pay someone to examine the machine before the purchase.
Valve damage isn't the most likely result of a bike fitted with one pipe or maybe another...that may or may not have been mapped.

buy a simple compression tester and pull the plugs, examine them...run the test on each cylinder...drop the oil...pull the clutch plates...there are several ways to uncover abuse or improper upkeep.

The only problem I would see is that your bike might be running lean with only the factory FI modulator on. All factory computers run lean at the 3000 and 5000 RPM levels (or they use to) because that's where the EPA checks for emissions and sound ! Then depending on the bike, there will be rich spots. PCs are made to adjust these and smooth out the delivery of fuel to a near constant level. That's why you first notice more Smoothness and a loss of Jerkyness when most change to a PC or new MAP !

I really doubt you'll find any engine problems with only 3000 miles on the bike, unless it was ridden by a complete SQUID with a Brick for a Brain

I don't think you would do any damage to the bike...
But I do know that you would get no performance increase without the PC...
However, it will sound alot better...

I have a full system and no PC...runs real rich....You can actually smell it...but better rich than lean...I would rather replace a fouled plug than a burnt valve or piston.

Is there a way to know which type of baffle is on the bike without hearing it? Am I wrong or does RS-3 not designate the baffling system, just the style? Sorry, but am a newbie in the sport bike arena.

fwiw..."most" aftermarket exhaust companies won't offer up a full exhaust capable of harming an engine in and of itself...now that's not to say that some of the heavy breathers like HMF's Big Bird or Tiforces "Sumo" won't and with any of'em drivability in some rev ranges may sorta suck but yosh?...trust me...your safe and that bikes engine has not been harmed by the lack of a pc. I ran a Muzzy full system on mine with a zero PC3R map (which simply means the PC3R wasn't doing a thing...Anyway never had any engine problem with it...Your HP is not going to increase so much that the extra fuel would be needed like say for nitrous or a turbo...

I ran a yoshi trs full system for 2 years with no pc3.

No problems at all. Just inspect spark plugs peroidically to make sure its not running too rich or lean.
