G-pack or power commander

What is better, the g-pack or power commander II?
Can they work together?
Does the G-pack change the map from the power commander?
what is the function of the g-pack?

g-pak is a TRE.

In my best attempt to explain this it changes all of the gears to the 5th gear map.

From what I understand you dont need one if you have the other.
