Guys, about to purchase a zumo 550... What is the best way to stem mount it? I dont know that it comes with any way to do so, but other aftermarket companies make mounts. Which is the best and does anyone have pics and/or a good tutorial about installing it so that it doesnt fly off? Thanks for any help!

It comes with the Ram u-bolt mount and the bolts/spacers to mount it to the clutch or brake perch.

All the gps mounts have pretty standard hole spacing, the stemstand bolts right up to it.

I have four different bikes, each has a different mount on it.

Info on the zumo-  www.zumoforums.com/

Well I purchased the RAM stem mount adapter that allows me to use the mount the Zumo comes with and mount it in the stem. Do you have the stem mount on any of your bikes? Which brand if any of them do you own? (prefer one over the other) I really like the look of the techmount, just couldn't justify 65 bucks as apposed to 12 for the stem adapter for the ram, but it does look a little "clunky"...

I have a techmount that I don't use anymore. It worked pretty well, and easy to remove. I got another top clamp and modified a ram ball to mount to it.

how did you get your ball mount there? I like the concept so that when I get my GPR later on I can move it

I cut the ball off another mount, tapped it 1/4-20, made a stud, loctited it in. Then I drilled the top clamp, tapped it 1/4-20, loctited it in, too. It works better than I hoped it would.

I could still use my stemstand if I wanted.
