Well im sure we've all had to get off the bike at least once

So have you seen these adds for shell gasoline with the nitrogen cleaning and keeping the engine clean...anyone using it? is it worth anything, just gas, bad idea?

I stop at Shell most of the time cause it's cheapest in this area and convenient and I just don't trust the Valero. Got water-down diesel once so I stopped going there.

I haven't noticed any difference between Shell gas and any other gas. I only run 87 octane.

I just put in new plugs today so we'll see what happens with that.

Panda, doesn't Suzuki recommend mid or high grade? Just curious why you choose to run 87 octane? Unless I am incorrect, which is entirely possible.

Manual says "87 or higher". The prevailing opinion here is that you run 87 if stock and higher if you've worked the motor over (pistons, turbo, etc.)

87 is recommended for Gen1 and higher octane for Gen2. If Pandanin's sig is correct he has a Gen1 and that would explain the only run 87.

Nitrogen is inert and an inhibitor. That means it will suppress some of the ignition process. Sounds more like a way for engines to require more fuel to make the same power. I guess shell wasn't happy with the billions of profit from last year. They're now bold enough to advertise they're screwing us.

The Shell stations around here have the ethanol blend fuel. I don't like to run this (just personal preference). The only difference I have ever noticed when running the ethonal mix fuels and the non ethonal fuels is the MPG. I have the GenII and stick with what the Owners manual says 91+ octane. During the fuel crisis I was forced to run the 87 octane (I added some octane booster), but My K8 ran just fine on this mixture and I ran it like this for about 3 full tanks.

the available detergent packages (mandated by the gov anyway) seem to be fine now... Sounds more like a gimmick to me.. (maybe the fuel will store longer?)

I can't believe you even stopped to think that an Oil company would do ANYTHING that would actually be considered a benifit to the consumer. We need gas to run our toys. They need us to buy from them so they can take vacations in the Islands.
Snake oil....pure and simple.
