Gear Position Sensor

I am getting ready to order a gear position sensor and needed to verify the part. In the diagram I found, it appears to be number 38. The description is "BASE ASSY, GEAR SHIFT TERM 37730-24F00". Is this the one? This is the only part that looks like the affected part. Just want to make sure.

Thanks!

Thanks guys,

Whats wrong with your current one? Have only seena couple out of hundreds actually bad. I would be willing to take a peak at yours and repair at no charge if you think its damaged.

The gps mod I do isn't like a TRE mod though, its a 1N23455 mod.

Greg

Smithabusa,
I believe it's bad because I am using a GIPro and when I am in 1st gear, the display will alternate through 1, 3, 5, 2, 6 randomly. I performed the relearn on the GIPro and it still does the same thing. Also feels like it runs funny in 1st gear when this is happening. I guess it is changing up the timing. When I am out of 1st, all other gears work fine on the display and the bike is nice and smooth. If you want to take a look at it, maybe it could be repaired. Not sure. Since I use the TRE in the GIPro, I didn't really need a modified GPS. Thoughts?

take the connector loose, put the bike in first gear, and put an ohm meter across the black and red wire, should get in the 500 ohm range, if thats good thats 1st gear. The brass contacts might be dirty, try removing the sensor and see whats up, or possibly wiring glitch somewhere, these sensors very rarely go wrong, if you wanna send it to me ill look at it that night and ship back to you at my cost the next day.

I believe I posted my experience in one of your other threads. I had a similar problem with 3rd and 6th gear displays jumping around. I changed my GPS during the winter months and finally had a chance to take her out today. It looks like the problem is fixed now. I put on approx 70 miles today and my GIPro showed every gear.
Hope you have the same luck!

Old thread..... FWIW- I'm having a similar issue with the GiPro. I was told that the sensor might be bad, so I'm going to take a look at it tonight. It sees gears 1-4 with regularity, but when it hits 5th and 6th gear, the GiPro shows "0".

Interestingly enough, when the bike is cold, it shows 5th and 6th just fine, but after warm, it will show "0" with the same ease as the other gears. I have seen it jump a little between gears, but not much. GP Sensor?
